Congrats to Kobe! Someday we'll see LeBron and Durant do this as well. Provided they can stay healthy

He's also still the best SG in the game at age 34.

Grew Up with Kobe and was the main reason I started following basketball when I was young in the first place. Amazing player that can still at the age of 34 make your jaw drop with some of the moves he pulls off. The day he hangs it up will be one of the saddest moments of my sports life but for now lets continue to watch him do great things. The Greatest player of the 2000's and one of the best to ever play the game of basketball.

              Congrats to the Mamba....

Kobe needs to average 13.8 ppg the next 2 years to pass MJ for 3rd all time...

also read that LeBron needs 24 ppg over the next 5 years to hit 30,000 himself....he'll be 2 years younger than Kobe

I'm sure Durant will be even younger.

It's awesome that I got to see these once in a lifetime players go from rookies to their primes..but on Kobe, however I may feel about him, I have to respect him as one of the best to dribble a basketball. The man gets buckets.

The one thing I'll always admire about Kobe is his relentless drive & work ethic, it's kept him in the greatest of shape year in & out. He definitely has a deep burning passion that is still there after all these seasons (17), amazing durability.

I've been watching a lot of montages of his career and his game evolved in a necessary fashion to keep him relevant & competitive after all these years (much as MJ's did as well). He was so athletic in his early years (still pretty athletic today, given his age and games played), but he developed that touch with the ball, can score and dribble well with either hand. He has developed an amazing array of moves, he's simply a joy to watch on the court.

Congrats to Kobe on getting to that 30k mark.

So the question is: is Kobe the greatest Laker player of all-time? Or is he even the greatest Laker guard of all-time?

That question only brings endless debate.

I'm just posting in the thread to recognize greatness and longevity of Kobe's career. 30k is a **** ton of buckets, he definitely won't be the last to do it (as mentioned already).

So many great all time Lakers, you could make an argument for more than just two of them. I'm not going there.

I think most people here know how I feel about Kobe, that being said I have to give him major props for what he's accomplished in his career..good for him!

As for your question, no he is not the greatest Laker ever. Actually even considering to call him that just because he now reached the 30,000 mark wouldn't make much sense at all considering the guy at the top of that list did most of his work in a Laker jersey.

He will be remembered as the guy who helped the great Luke Walton get a few rings.

You can't compare wings to centers. However, a Jerry West and Kobe comparison is interesting.
