    2013 Dunk Contestees

still pretty early in the season but I'm thinking the dunk contest will comprise of the following players:
    • Jeremy Evans (UTA)
    • Terrence Ross (TOR)
    • Harrison Barnes (GSW)
    • Gerald Green (IND)

The last one is tough for me. Some considerations would be DeAndre Jordan, Kenneth Faried, and Dion Waiters.

But I think the first 3 dunkers are set. And lets be realistic here, guys like Griffin and LeBron are not going to participate. Nor are guys (who were previously ROBBED) like DeRozan and Iguodala.

I would say Russell Westbrook and Eric Bledsoe are possibilities. But your list seems like how it will play out sans Harrison Barnes. I don't know if he'll get the nod.

      Re: 2013 Dunk Contestees

After last night's dunk contest, I'd agree with Bledsoe.

Isn't there some rule that they only use players in their first 3 seasons now?

Don't know if Green will want to do it but Bledsoe would be fun to watch. Ross being in there is a must.

I think Jeremy Evans, Eric Bledsoe, Terrence Ross, Gerald Green, Deandre Jordan and Harrison Barnes are all good possibilities.
Other players I would like to see in it are Alonzo Gee, Gerald Henderson (just for that dunk over the lakers), Javale Mcgee, and Paul George

Gerald Green has to be in it again. Would like to see Terrence Ross too.

I don't care who's in it. I just hope they go back to dunking without the use of all the stupid props.

I'm hoping for Green to get back in & first appearance by James White (got my vote to win it all). I would also like to see Terrence Ross get in as well.

                        Re: 2013 Dunk Contestees

I have supported the Dunk Contest for as long as its been around. People have been criticizing it for just as long. Even throughout the '00's, I have a lot of fond dunk contest memories. However, the '12 contest pushed me well beyond my limit. I felt real life embarrassed as I watched it unfold on TV. Sometimes props are okay to me, but actors, the "dunk coaches", the pre-dunk coach explanations, the choir, the running on-floor commentary, the lack of any judging, the single round.... it was one of the worst things I've ever seen in television history.

My only hope, is for the return to normal dunk contest procedure. 6 dunkers. 2 rounds. 3 dunks in the first round. 2 in the finals. Real judges. Minimize anything that doesn't have to do with dunking. No comedians dressed like mailmen, no choirs, no coaches - just real life dunking.

I'm pretty sure they removed that restriction, as Gerald Wallace was in the 2010 contest.

I almost forgot the horrible new format. Ew. I miss the judges. It was an imperfect system, but it was one of the things that made it special.

                            Re: 2013 Dunk Contestees

The '12 contest was awful, a deplorable exhibition which is arguably the highlight of All-Star saturday night. I personally would like to see James White participate, but don't know if he is as amazing as in his college days.

I would like to see more than 2 dunks per participant as well. The pageantry--e.g. Blake Griffin final round--is nauseating and greatly detracts from the excitement of the contest.

In my opinion, the biggest stars, if they possess obvious leaping abilities should compete in the contest or be subject to repercussions for the same reason the Spurs were fined for resting players: conduct detrimental to the League. However, I recently reviewed the CBA, and while there are 'mandatory appearance' clauses, the All-Star statute explicitly disallows the League from requiring players to participate in the Dunk Contest.

Moreover, players such as Lebron, Wade, Anthony, and other stars, are in effect tarnishing their legacies by not participating--my opinion entirely.

                              Wade is too old now.
                              Melo is too fat
and LeBron doesnt have to prove anything at this point
