I didn't think you were asking all time.

If its all time, I'll give it to MJ.

His stats might not have been that crazy, but the guy was something else on that court.

I never saw mj play, so again i cant really say much as i dont have much more tan stats to work with on a lot of these guys, along with some old highlight reels.

i guess this begs the question, do you guys think lebron could surpass jordan?

I'm starting to think that people are doing this on purpose.

I somewhat agree with the fact that Kobe could be mentioned in this is discussion...he has all the tools to be one of the most well rounded players...but even in his prime, he never had the mentality of using all those tools consistently...

haha, my bad. Not trying to start anything, I was just curious.

I guess we are better off waiting till lebron retires before that topic comes up anyway.

Even seeing that Jordan stat, I'd still say Magic is more rounded than he is. Don't forget Magic started at center in the Finals in 1980, his rookie year. 42 points, 15 boards, and 7 assists and ended up playing all 5 positions during that game, it's much harder for a PG to go to C than a SG to go to PG.

Last I checked you had to be able to play some form of defense to qualify as being well-rounded. These would be my choices:

Michael Jordan- Could do everything at the highest level.
Oscar Robertson- Excelled at every aspect, though not a speedster.
Jerry West- Lacked only a proficient left hand.
Bill Sharman- Did everything, except run real fast.
Dave DeBusschere- All around great, but not a jet.
Walt Frazier- The Michael Jordan of point guards, except that he was quick rather than a blinder.

Probably the only reason I don't have Magic number 1.

What's your take on LeBron AB?

An outstanding team defender, but his man to man defense is only adequate. Has trouble defending quick wingmen. Not a dead eye shooter from the field or the foul line. A cut below the people I mentioned as far as well roundedness is concerned.

Damn AB idk man.. LeBron's FG % and 3pt % just get more and more ridiculous each season.. Yes his on ball D isn't DeBusschere or Frazier level but he excels more in many other areas over either of them..

What gives LeBron the edge for me in comparison to the list you posted is outside of Jordan and West none of those guys can single handedly carry a team the way LeBron has.

Also he's probably more versatile than anybody on your list other than Jordan offensively and DeBusschere defensively.. But as putting the whole package together, those guys just have more weaknesses IMO.

Today, it's LeBron James, no question.

All-time, it's Michael Jordan, no question.

Kobe is probably in that second or third tier of "well-roundedness" if only because as previously stated, he never quite put it all together at maximum effort like others did.

DeBusschere is an interesting shout. Bird is underrated as an all-around player as well.

i think some people are confusing filling the stat sheets and actually having a pretty diverse game.

I think Kobe is getting the short end of the stick here... Not to many people really have a more diversified and complete game than he has/had.

                            Hakeem is definitely there also

Kobe has a complete game when Kobe tries to have complete games. But that's not his game, his game is take a whole bunch of shots and score a whole bunch of points and not do much else. With his skills he could pretty easily fill up the stat sheet with rebounds and assists as well as points, but he doesn't.

Kobe's also a vastly overrated defender. He's a great defender, but his defense doesn't live up to the number of All-Defense teams he's made.

Seems like it to me that people critically microanalyze him at a nauseating level. Score many points and not much else.. is a bit overstated considering he was the prime facilitator for the better part of 15+ seasons..

I dont think you can find that any sg's in the history of the game that have rebounding/steal/assisting numbers per game and total. That dwarf what Kobe has and continues to do.. keep in mind he is a shooting guard and contrary to popular belief people have shot more..

I guess we can agree to disagree.
