Re: 1-21/1-28 game disscussion
Something is going to have to give. I'd rather see Hinrich spell the 2 as well and move Belinelli to the 3 to give Deng more of a spell here and there because he is being driven like a horse along with Noah.
Could also have Butler at the 2 as well. Lots of possibilites, so really can't go wrong.
Also, this years ball movement >>>>>>>>>>>>>> last years by a long shot.
This Rose injury, is going to be a blessing in disguise all around I believe.
Ball movement is better because it has to be better. Everyone has to be involved for them to pull these W's out as Derrick hasn't been here all year. I can see Butler cutting into Deng's numbers a bit, but not by much. This is a guy who was a key piece to the second unit that included reserve players just as capable.
I'm almost worried about how long it'll take for this team to get back to 100%. I love our chances of the underdog - if a 2 seed underdog can exist- because last year the injuries were almost complimenting of each other ... if that makes sense ... convenient ... I only say that because your comment about it being a blessing in disguise has some merit in that regard. IF you believe in that thing, which I can.

Re: 1-21/1-28 game disscussion
A blessing in disguise in regards to forcing our team to have to get better in certain areas that Rose would traditionally cover up.
Half court ball movement being one of them. But also forcing Thibs hand to play some of these guys extended minutes (Butler & Robinson) which is only going to be a positive once we move towards the playoffs. The deeper the better.
We've watched Robinson become a much bigger threat on offense, and Butler has been tremendous defensively (something we really already knew) but offensively he's getting much better. Way more active in the half court and is looking to attack. Something we really didn't see too often last year.
Once Deng returns, I really hope Thibs gives him longer rest and allows Butler to continue to prove himself.
I think Butler at the 2 could work, mainly because him and Deng on the floor could create real problems for teams on the perimeter.
Rose/Butler/Deng/Gibson/Noah
That could be a fun lineup defensively.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

Re: 1-21/1-28 game disscussion
I do see your point, and agree that it could have end up having some benefit in the sense that guys try that much harder to play together ... but that's what I meant about the Boozer soundbite. Like, with Rose out, Boozer and Co had to step it up. Say what? I get that it's a new year, but it remains to be seen how people like Boozer respond down the stretch when they get arguably more open looks but less plays run for them..
But guess I meant more to the whole picture ... another year where guys are in and out. I know it was early, but Marco didn't start producing until his minutes dramatically increased. Now we know he can ball, as well can Nate, and Jimmy showed us his potential ... but increased production due to increased minutes has a direct correlation and so that's where I was suggesting MY concern was.
As for Jimmy at the 2; anything is possible. But when things start to settle you are going to have an extremely rigid rotation with Thibs and I see the 2 filled with Hamilton / Marco / Hinrich and Nate with the last two obviously being interchangeable at the 1 in relief. Butler will be Deng's man, but so long as Deng is playing I don't see his minutes taking that big of a hit. Seems like the craziest thing we see Thibs do is run Taj and Boozer.
But I do agree that there are some intriguing lineups, rotations with this team. Could be a good time to experiment, but we know Tom has this thing already written. lol
Teague will go down, Cook will have an embellished Rasual Butler role as of 2 years ago or whenever that was.Last edited by skywalkah; 01-22-2013, 01:19 AM.Comment

Re: 1-21/1-28 game disscussion
Can we get the Off-Topic thread re-opened?
Anyways, sounds like the Cavs and Grizz have a deal in the works. Cavs would acquire Mareese Speights and Josh Selby for Jon Leuer. Picks are apparently involved and it also saves the Grizzlies more than $4 million.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. I don't know... I'll give them until All Star break to turn it around. I've given them long enough of a rope now. I feel like I'm making excuses for them. First it was they need time to gasol. Kobe shooting until thr Then it was Nash.
But in other news... Man oh man we had some good *** games yesterday!! Nets-Knicks get was by far the best of them all (The Washington-Portland finish was nice).Last edited by jeebs9; 01-22-2013, 09:18 AM.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

The more I see Lillard play the more I like him. I think I'd rather have him than John Wall.
