Duncan is a great player, but every great player still has his short comings. FTs are his, as with most big post men. They just aren't used to shooting like that, tho they should be. It's all in their mechanics. I think someone said it before, bend the knees, get more arch on the ball.

But ya know, if that is their only short commings, then I'd take it anyday for a player of TD or Shaq's caliber.

<hr /></blockquote><font class="post"> Yea I mentioned knees but forgot about arch. Arch is so important. I remember this guy on my basketball team that used to launch his FTs so high. People made fun of him for it but hey he made his FTs. Duncan just flings it and hopes the ball starts to descend at the perfect time so it goes in.

I wouldn't say that he's a 7 foot Steve Kerr. Dirk is an offensive monster. That guy can score from anywhere on the court. He shoots it from distance, he scores on the inside, he plays a great 2 man game with Nash. His defense is very lacking, but so is the rest of the team.

lol at the one who commented about dirk. anyway i think you can't criticize him yet since he shoots awful this season and last season was not that bad in ft% for duncan but shaq has this problem ever since he started his career.

You can ask the same of Bruce Bowen as well. How can he lead the NBA in 3pt shooting last year but stink at shooting free throws?? My guess is that the goal it too close.
