    So just for my information...

Where are you guys seeing every year that TP is being ranked...lets say top 5 amongst his PG peers?

Okay, then LeBron shouldn't win MVP since he doesn't do it all himself. Having Wade and Bosh on the team should disqualify him, to be honest.

          Really?

Even though he leads the team in points, rebounds, assists, steals, FG%, 3PT%, and is second in blocks..

          I disagree

If we are using the logic that Tony Parker doesn't deserve consideration because Duncan and Ginobili on the team, then LeBron doesn't deserve it, either, since Wade and Bosh are no scrubs, either.

And, YES, I do think LeBron should be MVP; I am just demonstrating the faulty logic at work.

Anyway. LeBron is the front runner for the award right now, but it's not this ridiculously wide margin that some would say. Tony Parker is right there with him. There's a few things we need to relax on in this thread starting with how big the gap is between LeBron and everybody else for MVP. Acting as if Tony is having a good stretch recently like he hasn't been playing well all year. Finally that he is hands down the best point guard in the league. Just two weeks ago when the Clippers were looking like garbage without him, CP3 was the best PG in the league, they play the Spurs and he has a bad night and all of a sudden Parker is hands down the best 1 in the league? Come on now.

                My MVP formula:

The player must be top 5 overall individually and on a top 5 overall team to qualify. Team rank determined by win%. Player rank determined by the average of PER and WS/48. Score = combined rank with team record as the tiebreaker, lowest score wins.

There are 4 qualifying players right now.

                #1 LeBron James 3 points (1 player/2 team)
                #2 Tony Parker 5 points (4 player/1 team)
Tie Kevin Durant 5 points (2 player/3 team)
                #4 Chris Paul 7 points (3 player/4 team)

Well with the way y'all say that LeBron is going to spontaneously combust because he "does everything", I would think y'all would have him running away with the MVP...lol

To the point of the thread though, I think TP should be in both discussions....but as far as national media goes, he's not

I've always considered Parker a top 5 PG.. Not the clear cut number 1 guy but he's in my top tier group of guys for sure..

I also believe Parker is 2nd in the MVP race right now, according to NBA.com.. So it's not as if nobody is noticing

He does do everything, but other people are still doing stuff in the league. Even with everything he's doing for the Heat, he's having his MVP season with about 6 more minutes per game than TP is having his MVP year. Come on with this 24th.

                          CP3, Rondo, Parker, Rose, Westbrook
(Top 5 PGs in no order)

                          Curry, Kyrie, Holiday
                          (the next 3, no order)

                          What do you guys think?

Would he be as dominant if he wasn't playing for the best coach in the league?

He's having a great stretch at the moment and he did dominate CP3 yesterday but in their two games earlier in the season it was the otherway round.

Well it also depends on team need.. I don't think the Spurs would ever want a guy like Rose over Parker...

With the bulls it's a tough call, sure Rose is their best player and leading scorer but its obvious they don't need a 25ppg PG to still be a damn good team.

Obviously they would take Rose, with youth and potential being the biggest factors, but its tough to say Parker wouldn't be just as good of a fit.

I don't think people realize how well Parker can score the ball when it's needed. And I think his ability to fit in well with other stars and not always demand the ball is huge. He's really the only guard in the top 5 discussion who can take the back seat that well.
