I've posted this in the Pistons team thread, but I wouldn't touch Shabazz. He's got bust written all over him.

Re: 2013 NBA Draft Discussion
He has some serious red flags, and that's not even touching his personality problems.
He is supposedly a hard worker, but he showed a seriously flawed skill set at UCLA and his attitude was deplorable.
I wouldn't draft him if he was there at 19, if I were the Cavs.Too Old To Game Club

Re: 2013 NBA Draft Discussion
Regarding Noel, if I remember right, he was also a pretty good passer from the post. Some people have compared him to Joakim Noah regarding the fact that he could be a game-changer defensively while being a nice passer from the post.
Regarding Waiters, I'm somewhere between OSU and ex. Still shot the ball horribly from 3 (which I figured he would, but for some reason, people seemed to think he was a good shooter at Syracuse when he wasn't). Besides the month of February, he shot no better than 43% from the field in a given month. However, you could tell that he was starting to figure things out a bit and he was finally starting to finish around the rim at a decent rate. He's still a sieve defensively (though he has the physical tools to become a good defender; just isn't disciplined at all. I'd hope Mike Brown will do wonders with him in that regard). He still doesn't do much if he isn't scoring, but I think he'll get better, and if you add a SF like Otto Porter (doesn't seem likely in this year's draft since they got the #1 pick), I think you'll have a very nice mix of guys that can handle the ball and guys that can be effective without needing the ball in their hands.NFL: Bills

Re: 2013 NBA Draft Discussion
The one light at the end of the tunnel is to hope Shabazz has become humbled by this entire process. Apparently he was injured but continued to do some drills in the combine which is a good sign. The stuff he showed in high school was so drastically different from what he showed at UCLA. It was amazing.Comment

Re: 2013 NBA Draft Discussion
Talent wise, you have to take him if he were to fall to 19 for some strange reason, but I don't think he's a good fit with Kyrie and Dion at all.NFL: Bills

Re: 2013 NBA Draft Discussion
Yeah I was thinking the same thing. If he is at #19, he is worth the risk imo, but I wouldn't touch him in the top 10.Cincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals

At least the Hornets are back. Can't get too upset at dropping to #4 with that news.
Either pick up Len or trade back. And then next year is the Wiggins Sweepstakes with a loaded draft.Ohio State Buckeyes | Carolina Panthers | Charlotte Hornets | Cincinnati RedsComment

I see what you're doing NBA. Trying to load Cleveland up to entice LeBron back after he opts out. Clever, very clever.Comment

Re: 2013 NBA Draft Discussion
I really hope Noel can stay healthy. Irving is already showing signs of being a little frail and Varejao hasnt had the healthiest few seasons, though last year was more of a medical thing. I absolutely love Varejao and with Noel on the inside they could be very good defensively.
Another thing is Noel is in no way an instant impact guy. Is Andy going to be ready to start the season? Another subpar year and they could have yet another high pick next year.Comment

Caldwell-Pope is my sleeper in this draft. I think he'll easily be one of the top 5 guys to come out of this class when it's all said and done.Originally posted by billmaticRadman is more like the ******** homeless man's version of Okur.Comment

Re: 2013 NBA Draft Discussion
Does Shabazz have personality problems? Certainly, but he's still a MASSSIVE upgrade over CJ Miles. I dont know if ya'll know this but Shabazz was a 42-43% catch and shoot 3 pointer this past season for UCLA. He has a nice shooting form and when he sets his mind to it is a very irritating defender. He may not pass the ball, but is that really any different from CJ OSU? I remember you laughing about him not having an entire assist for like a week straight.

Now his personality may be a problem, but you never know. Worse personalities have succeeded in the league....Last edited by DukeC; 05-22-2013, 04:16 AM.Comment
