Best/Worst fanbases?
Which team do you think has the best fanbase? And the worst? I think the Celtics have the best I mean they have Ray Allen props in his return and then last years eastern conference finals game 6.... They cheered for te last 4 minutes of a blowout game. Before you say they're all bandwagon era think about this: they're still here aren't they? I think the worst is the Bucks, Lakers, or Heat. Keep in mind I know there are a lot of exceptions but lakers fans usually come off as jerks booing their own players who play for their cities and ty to win them chips, and heat fans are jerks to a fan of any other fanbase. I think the bucks fans just don't care tbh.Kevin Garnett is innocent.Tags: None -

I'm not sure about other cities since I don't really watch other teams games, but Raptors I think could have one of the best fansbases if they're a winning team(as proven by the crowds they've had during their playoff years, especially the "Lets go Raptors..VC SUCKS" chants and the "HOOOOOOOOOWARD" chants), but if they're gonna be sucking 8 out of every 10 years, they can't really expect fans to be excited during those 8 years.

Don't take it as a bandwaggon fanbase, cause people do support Raptors all the time, they just don't pay the ridiculously high prices(prices that are only acceptable if it's a top 10 team in the league) for the tickets to watch what they know is a losing team, and paying prices only businessmen can afford(as seen by Raptor/Leaf games where most of the arena are businessmen in suits).
Not to mention the fact that they're "rebuilding" yet trading away their draft picks and not drafting safe(Raptors in no position to take risks on their draft picks).
It just sucks to see teams like Raptors sucking, when their fans could be some of the loudest in the league if the team was actually a consistently winning one. When none of your major franchises have won championships in 2 decades, it's hard to get excited for them.Last edited by Majingir; 03-24-2013, 04:37 PM. -

Re: Best/Worst fanbases?
No offense, this is just what I've observed living in various places and attending live events.
The Best:
San Antonio- The Spurs are a way of life in that area. It is no joke and the only fanbase that I would consider as rabid as Packer, Raider, or Steeler fans.
Golden St.- Never been to a game there but they travel well and support the team whether they are good or bad.
New York Knicks- Lived in NYC for four years and nearly EVERYBODY has an opinion on the Knicks good or bad. They were terrible when I was there and you heard about it all the time.
Dallas- Another fanbase thats serious about their team. Remember Playmakers?
Indiana- Really knowledgeable fans who travel very well.
Lakers- Annoying as crap but they really do have a huge national following.
The worst:
Miami- And it isnt even close to me. Bandwagoners to the tee. Going to a game in Miami is terrible. They look at you like an idiot for cheering!
Atlanta- Another fanbase who is terribly indefferent to its team. They could go 20-62 or 62-20 and there wouldn't be a difference.
New Orleans- I dont even think NO fans know that they have a team."Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that."Comment

Re: Best/Worst fanbases?
Best: Utah, Toronto, Indiana, G.S. San Antonio
Worst: Lakers: They only care about them when they're winning
I would of put New York in the the best tier had they not cheered MVP for a player on another team in a home game. That to me was unforgivableComment

Re: Best/Worst fanbases?
The Bulls obviously have my vote as the best fanbase. We travel extremely well own a 610 game sellout streak that ran from 1987-2000 and only came 311 tickets short of selling out the game it ended on. Since 2001 the Bulls have only been out of the top 5 in attendance 1 time and that was the 2001-02 season after they traded away Elton Brand and Ron Artest to make way for Eddy Curry and Tyson Chandler. The following year we were right back in the top 5 at 5. Every year after that we haven't dropped past 3rd and since 2009-10 season we've been number 1 every year.
Teams that are in the conversation IMO are the Spurs, Knicks, Warriors, Blazers and Cavs fans. I say Cav fans because they really haven't missed a beat since LeBron left and despite the apparent eternal ineptitude of the team they are always there all the way back to 'The Shot' days (the Coliseum would be intense during those playoff battles).
The worst are the Miami Heat, Atlanta Hawks and LA Lakers. Miami because they are made up almost entirely by bandwagon riders who only support the team when they're a legit contender for a title or are pratically guaranteed one with this Big Three era. At least a lot of guys that were bandwagon riding the Bulls back in the 90's stayed on with the team after the dynasty which is why there are so many Bulls fans turning up at games all over the NBA. Ten years after the Big Three is done in Miami, Miami Heat fans aren't going to be drowning out fans of other teams on the road the way a few of these other teams do because they'll be back to wearing Laker gear or Knicks gear or whatever team is the surefire pick to win the title for the next several years.
The Hawks because they just don't give a damn what that franchise does win or lose. Maybe it's just cause they realize what most of us already did about that team never amounting to more than a second round exit at their best the way they were constructed, but the city just generally gives no dambs about the Atlanta Hawks.
The Lakers because they are basically Miami Heat West. While they have quite a few smart basketball fans around the country, they are still overrun with moronic, basketball stupid bandwagon fans who don't know a damn thing about basketball other than 'we got Kobe, come at me bro.'Comment

Don't get me wrong the Heat fan base sucks, I just think the Lakers fan base is worst especially with the way they flip flops with the clippers earlier this year.

Re: Best/Worst fanbases?
Don't expect you to be completely unbiased, but calling out Laker and Heat fans as a bad fanbase and not the C's? The Celtic fanbase was practically non existent before the Big Three got there and magically transported us back to the '80s. It's not like they were watching terrible teams in Boston either they were at least playoff squads there. Still being there right now while they're still competitive with KG, Pierce, Rondo on that roster isn't any sort of accomplishment. Let's see what they do when KG and Pierce are gone and Rondo is carrying the load himself and that seventh or eighth seed is the best they can hope for.Comment
