Am I the only one who thinks Eric Snow...

... is borderline hopeless? As an NBA player that is. The guy should really consider himself lucky he is getting paid so much. He can barely dribble, sometimes struggling to bring the ball out of the backcourt. He is as slow as a snail. He can't hit the side of the backboard on wide open shots (let alone make them). He often doesn't even take wide open shots, preferring to pump fake 28 times before passing off again. He is terrible in the clutch. I think his assist/turnover ratio is over-rated simply because he does nothing to risk a turnover (yet averages 2 per game). I also see many of his assists just simple passes that usually end up an assist because Iverson drains a jumper. Also, there are times when he simply forgets who is on his team. Too many times has Robinson scored all of his points in one half, only to barely touch the ball for the rest of the game. Snow is nothing. He stands there and becomes one of the biggest liabilities I've ever seen. (At least on offense). I thought Avery Johnson was a worry for the Spurs for all those years, but at least the guy learnt his spots and was able to hit some open shots and work his way to the hoop.

I think the 76ers would do much better with Iverson at the point. He has had some nice assist games this year and it would continue thanks to the new talent around him. (Marc Jackson was playing good, Dalembert is looking very impressive and handy, Korver can actually knock down three's - something this team hasn't had for a while, Big Dog can hit mid-range and has 3 range, Kenny Thomas is ok and Coleman is sometimes handy.) It would also take the pressure of Iverson's shooting troubles. Besides, I don't know how much longer he will be able to last at shooting guard. His speed will go with age, but his maturity, vision and general knowledge will (and is) increasing, making it the better option to have him at point. Regardless of what many may think, he does like to pass and would gladly decrease his shot attempts if it would help the team.

Back to the topic. Is there anyone who thinks Snow is a useful player? I know people seem to think he is a good defender and while I don't totally agree, I do think he hurts the team more than he helps it. He ruins the whole flow and pace of a potentially dangerous team. I would trade him for another guard now.

    Rant over.

Odom? Sheesh! If that really was on the table, I can't believe the 76ers didn't take it! Losing nothing to get Odom, yeah I would take that! Actually, trading Snow for thin air would be an improvement...
Maybe they are too loyal to him? It seems Randy Ayers is more loyal and gives more credit and compliments to Snow and Coleman than his franchise man lately. I wouldn't mind seeing a new coach either. (yes the 76ers are my 2nd favourite team, hehe!)

I'm not commenting on the topic here, but to something that you mentioned earlier.

If AI was playing the PG spot, I think he would get even more tired than he is now. He would have to handle the ball a lot more, and then create his shots. AI goes off a ton of screens right now, and then he is somewhat open part of the time. Either that or he has to create. But handling the ball at PG will increase his wear and tear IMO. Just my .02.

Snow is a liability on both sides of the ball. Offense and Defense. His D is vastly overrated, because he doesn't stop anybody. When's the last time he shut someone down?? And I agree on his offense defienency's. He doesn't have any 3pt range, and isn't a threat. Therefore he doesn't keep the D honest when they guard AI and Big Dog. He holds the ball entirely too long, and it takes him forever to get the offense going. AI or Big Dog don't usually get the ball until there 15 secs on the shot clock!!! That's too much precious time wasted, therefore forcing AI to take iladvised shots. Therefore making his fg% lower.

The Sixers have been trying to get rid of him for weeks but no such success because BK decided to give him a damn extension before the season started!!! There's big talk about this at the Philly boards and Real GM.

As for DC, he's another liability. And I think AI, Snow, and Mckie have called him out through secret messages in the media. Because he doens't bringing every game. The real DC doesn't show up until playoff time. He doesn't want to get in shape, and if you bench him he wines. There's been whispers about him trying to derive Dalembert's confidence. And Ayers is too gutless to stop this. I say trade Snow, DC, and Fire AYERS!!!!!!!

I got your point admiral, but we can't put it all on one guy. I think the whole team is playing bad right now. Iverson is averaging almost 5 TO per game, McKie may never get to the point he was in 01/02 etc. Snow was never a shooter, he's a good defender, old school point guard.. that's all.. I also don't think Ayers has a lot of authority down there. the team is playing under the expectations, but maybe they were too high at the beginning of the season.. no chemistry, no communication on defense, letting high leads slip away.. Eric Snow is solid, and right now it should be enough for a Philly fan like you and me.
