Shoulda, woulda, coulda. Fact is the coaches (you know those guys who know what they are doing) didn't vote either of them in. I believe their opinion is much more intelligent than ours!

well some of all are saying redd deserved it, and then saying CAN'T ARGUE, but have you compared his numbers with LeBrons
LJ 20.8ppg 5.9rpg 5.9apg 1.48spg .70bpg
MR 22.1ppg 5.1rpg 2.3apg 1.04spg .06bg
so whos having the better season

Exactly.
I like Redd though(O-State, baby) so I can't begrudge his selection. The Bucks were projected to be a lottery team this year, and Redd deserves some props for the teams success.
Not making the team is prolly better for LeBron. Keep him hungry, keep his focus on W's and not the glitz and also prevents the "Waaaah, he don't deserve it, everybody's just on his jock, he hasn't done anything, hes all hype, blah, blah, blah" backlash from guys like FSQID(resident LeBron-gets-too-much-attention-he-aint-all-that-damn-i-wish-they-didn't-show-him-on-SC-so-much-hatin-from-the-sideline type)that would inevitably come with his selection. Re: ALL STAR RESERVES!!!
I can't necessarily agree with fsquid's premise that coaches know more and are more intelligent. They obviously know more about X's and O's, but very few coaches run the franchise, and make draft selections and free agent signings, they may collude a little bit with the GM, but the GM handles it.
Coaches aren't necessarily suited at picking the best players, cuz they may be biased or pick guys for extraneous reasons, such as, oh I feel sorry such and such player has never been an All Star, so why not leave Carmelo/Lebron off since their just getting their feet wet and will surely be all stars in the years ahead. Coaches get sentimental that way. Heck, I can easily see a coach having a close relationship with certain players and feeling compelled to add them to a team for more than just performance. Also, the league may politic, or let coaches politic, behind the scene, as to who gets on the team. You say coaches know more, but what about players like barkley, kenny smith, magic johnson, basketball analysts like david aldridge, etc. who cover the nba for a living, or have played and know something about talent and or play deserving the all star nod.
Almost unanimous support before the lineups were announced and lebron and carmelo deserving a spot. It seems to me that there is a lot more than meets the eye when it comes to who's on the team and who's not, and plenty of so called "intelligent people", in fact a majority of people had Lebron and or Carmelo as on the team. Saying coaches are more intelligent then we are is a weak argument for saying they got it right. Also, it don't hurt all star weekend to now hype up the Rookie game, which would have lost a lot of luster of Melo and Lebron played Sunday, cuz the rookie game would seem so insignificant for hyping the duo when they played on the biggest stage. I smell a decision influenced by a marketing ploy, and don't bother telling me there isn't behind the scenes stuff going on in regards to decisions that affect $$$ marketing and NBA appearance.Comment
