I know Jax was horrible in the regular season, but him in playoff mode could help SA out.

This team is just tissue paper soft out there--won't put a body on anyone.

I thought that is why they signed one of the all time greats Tracy McGrady.

He'd certainly help out in small-ball situations. We could march out a lineup of Tony/Manu/Kawhi/SJax/Timmy out there.

Finally got the ridiculous streak of losing 30 games in a spam of 16 years in SA over yesterday. Now the Dubs just need to defend homecourt against a very tough Spurs.

I'd love to see what could happen if they let Mac go to work. Perhaps he could be the saving grace, or maybe he's not. But dammit there isn't much to lose after getting straight mollywopped for 90 minutes out of 106.

Wait I thought they released SJax. Excuse me if I'm wrong. But I think the problem lays in that Spurs are just not playing great defense right now. Especially matching GSW energy on the floor. And the Warrior have a tweener group of players that can play different positions. Jack and Curry can swap spots, so can Barnes and Thompson and finally Green is a power forward in a small forwards body. It's really weird with him.

The Spurs need to decide what they are going to do with Curry on the pick and roll. I've never understand why so many teams can live with him coming off the pick and roll free and easy. He is always going to pull-up!

Re: Western Conference Semifinals Discussion Thread

It seems over the past couple years the Spurs have transitioned themselves from a defensively minded team to more of a run and gun offensive team.

There defense is failing them and it reminds me of last year against OKC when they just struggled to get stops at the most crucial times.

If I'm a Spurs fan one thing I take away as a positive as it took a Curry out of his mind 3rd quarter in game 1 to almost lose, and a Thompson out of his mind 2nd quarter in game 2 to lose, so what are the chances that the Warriors will continue to have guys put up highlight reels like that again while the Spurs continue to miss wide ope shots?

I have no idea where this series is gonna go from here on out but Ill enjoy watching every minute of it as I think this is the best second round series this year.

Re: Western Conference Semifinals Discussion Thread

I think many of us are looking at this SA/GS series focusing on the Spurs a little bit too much because I personally think this series is more about the Warriors than it is about the Spurs.

How many people had GS winning the series against Denver? Not only that, they won a game on the road against a team that went 38-3 in that building and lost the first game to a buzzer beating layup. Then they take on San Antonio, still without David Lee, and find themselves up double digits in BOTH games on the road against a team that had the 3rd best home record at 36-5, so much for being young and inexperienced right? To finish the season, San Antonio went 3-7 in their last 10 games and faced a depleted Lakers squad (and sorry to keep bringing it up but didn't look good in that series either) where Golden St. after being so hot, decided to free fall later in the season but regained their balance and have been playing REALLY good basketball as late.

Now it seems like everywhere I go, people I talk to, a few on OS we're talking about what the Spurs are doing wrong, rather than what the Warriors are doing right. Lets give credit where credit is due, and right now, I think it's safe to say that the Warriors are playing the best basketball of any team in the playoffs. That's not to say they're going to make it to the Finals against NYK (my dream matchup) but you want to be clicking on all cylinders in the months of April/May/June which the Warriors seem to be doing.

Re: Western Conference Semifinals Discussion Thread

One positive aspect for the Spurs is that they held GS to only 38 second-half points. And if the team didn't miss a lot of open shots down the stretch, they may have completed the comeback on Wednesday night.

There is no doubt that the team is not as good defensively in the past. It's been downhill since Bruce Bowen retired. However, I do believe the defense is better this year than last year, though the offense has not been quite as potent.

Overall, unless the Spurs pull some miracle like grabbing Pau Gasol off amnesty next year, this is probably the Spurs' last chance at truly competing for a title. The West is wide open and I'm going to be greatly saddened if the Spurs fail to take advantage of this golden opportunity.

Agreed. With Westbrook going down and the Lakers injury situation things have aligned for a Spurs run to the Finals. I don't know if they'll make it but it is a golden opportunity for these guys, maybe their last.

Haha now I don't want the Lakers to amnesty Pau cause San Antonio would definitely nab him. Boy with that be a squad.

Warriors and Spurs play every other day throughout the series while the Knicks/Pacers play 2 games in 7 days. Wtf.

It's a conspiracy to make the aging Spurs lose. Stern is at it again!

                            Just kidding.

The Spurs/Warriors series actually does have a two-day rest between games six and seven, though, if it gets that far.

I think people forget the Spurs have been dealing with injuries as well... Parker, Diaw, Splitter and Ginobili coming back from one.
