Fair enough. NBA.COM has him listed as a F...but he played guard yesterday.
Regardless, wouldn't it just take pressure off Darko if they just stated to the public he won't be playing much?
There's still a tonne of hype coming...stories of taking Ben Wallace's best shots in practice, people still saying he'll be the new Duncan (when the kids more like a KG mixed with Kukoc)...
I don't know...just seems an unfair amount of pressure on him with the DNP's every game.Comment

I am assuming you don't live in Michigan.
Larry Brown has said over 50 times and Dumars at least a dozen that Darko "will not see any significant minutes this season."Listen to The Remodeling Clay Podcast!

Thanks. That clears it up a bit. It just seemed like the hype machine was still around, even Mutha's article sort of suggested the second half of the season would see Darko start to get a role etc.
Thanks...should be interesting to see him develope next season. From his time in europe, I know he was more of a perimeter guy...but most Euro big guys are. It could be Brown is coaching him to play inside and lose a lot of the 'Euro' style?Comment

Re: The Darko era is about to begin...according to this article.
Sorry about the article. I should've known better than post it based on the source. We can only hope that the comments by the players about Darko's development and how good he looks isn't as fabricated as the suggestion that he was going to play. Even Joe Dumars said in one of the papers today that Darko would have to earn his minutes over time and that he wasn't even guaranteed a minute next year. Maybe that's motivation -- or maybe Darko really won't play for a few years. It makes sense to make him earn his minutes however I do think Larry Brown needs to sit down with him and explain exactly what he needs to do. Based on the interview he gave with his hometown Serbian newspaper, he's confused and has no idea what steps he needs to take to get playing time. I think the problem is communication more than the end result of him not playing. They should also be consistant and when they tell him that he can only get minutes for playing the right way -- then they can't leave Campbell's fat a$$ in the game for 15 minutes when he does nothing and gives no effor out there.

It was a good article anyway
In your opinion, whose game will he resemble most?
From his Euro games, I have friends there who say he's like a young Tony Kukoc (who was regarded as GREAT when young...). They felt he was more of a perimeter guy.
Detroit drafted him as an 'inside guy' though...
This could explain why he's so not ready...because they are basically starting out again with him in some ways.
It may have the potential to backfire. Darko is still going to play international games, and he'll be expected to step out...as all Euro big men do.
If he prefers that type of game (his heroes are KG and KUKOC)...then who knows how he'll feel about being told to play another style?Comment
