Gary knew about the triangle before he signed.

I love GP. Have done since day one. Was shattered to see him sign with LA.

Not only because I lost a bit of respect for him and I hate LA...but also because I couldn't see it working out.

In a lot of ways, he's wasted this year. If he gets a ring, fine. But that will be tainted anyway as he'll always been seen as just jumping on and collecting it, not contributing.

Basketball wise...GP's strenghts have always been dominanting the ball, defense and a superior PG post game.

The triangle doesn't have a dominant ball handler and has theres not much post game for a PG with Shaq and Kobe (and Karl eventually) getting any post plays first.

Add to this the simple fact that, played properly and with KB always getting the ball down the stretch...the triangle needs shooters on the floor to compliment the 2 designated 'go to guys'.

So...if KB is getting it, and Shaq is next...the system needs a SF who can hit the three and it needs a PG who can hit the three ball.

Fisher, simply put, is a better long range shooter than GP...so he gets the end game minutes.

GP should have joined the Pacers...would have been an absolutely perfect fit and he'd have been seen as the guy who put them over the top if they won it all.

I don't know what we are talking about here. Gary Payton has no affected role in L.A.? Without Gary Payton, the Lakers would be no where near where they are right now. Payton keeps the offense in control. Gary Payton makes up the Laker fast break. Last year, Lakers had NO fastbreak game. This year, early in the year with everyone healthy, I got reminded of the Showtime Lakers with GP leading the fastbreak attack.

So, why he is he unhappy?

And why is a hall of fame point guard sitting out the end of games?
