Re: 2013-14 Transactions Thread
lee has a bigger contract but since is a trade they get to use the exemption they got for moving rudy, so at the end of the day they are saving $2M
im not sure how boston wins...bayless sucks...and its not like expirings really help us, FA's dont want to live in bostonComment

Re: 2013-14 Transactions Thread
Cap space can be used in more ways than just free agents. It wasn't a secret that Boston wanted to trade Lee all season.
It's a win for Boston IMO because Memphis is kidding themselves if they think Lee is going to take them over the top.NFL: Bills

Re: 2013-14 Transactions Thread
i think the lee part was for salary space more than making a legit run. granted hes a huge upgrade over anyone they have from 3 and is a better defender than anyone on their team (in terms of THIS YEAR)Comment

Re: 2013-14 Transactions Thread
The Celtics are the ones clearing salary space, not the Grizzlies. They took on a lesser expiring contract and gave out a larger contract. Trade exceptions allow you to take on a larger contract when you're over the cap.
Courtney Lee has been playing well and could help the Grizzlies out as he can space the floor while being capable on the defensive end.Comment

Unless Lee is going to become the go to scorer that they need, he's not making the Grizzlies legit at anything other than just making the playoffs.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2013-14 Transactions Thread
Well, Bayless is shooting a red-hot 29 percent from deep this season, lol.
I actually really like this trade, a lot. I really liked Lee, but I don't believe he was worth the deal he had. Hopefully Bayless will re-sign with the C's for cheap, I like the depth he brings to the backcourt.

between rondo crawford (who wants to resign in boston) bradley (who is probably getting extended) and pressey id rather not have bayless..dont like him, hes not that goodComment

Re: 2013-14 Transactions Thread
The only negative about this trade is the fact that this pretty much takes Asik out of the picture. But the positives outweigh the negatives, I think Bayless will thrive in Boston. I hope we trade Bradley at this point.

Re: 2013-14 Transactions Thread
not sure why you say that. courtney lee wasn't the one houston really wants. honestly i dont think they really wanted either bass/lee but instead an unprotected 1stComment

Re: 2013-14 Transactions Thread
The salaries matched up. The original trade was Bass + Lee with a first-rounder in '15. The trade would have already went through but Houston started being greedy and was asking for Jeff Green.

Re: 2013-14 Transactions Thread
Courtney Lee isn't there to make the Grizz instant contenders fellas. He's there to help bide time till Marc Gasol comes back. This wasn't a big move for Memphis, they only executed the deal so their trade exception wouldn't go to waste. They got the big fella down there inside, and if you slow the game down a lot he'll get into position. You know he gone bang you all night.-Ben Wallace on Shaquille O'Neal at halftime, game 5 of the 2004 NBA Finals. Hope nobody takes this out of context...Comment
