Re: 2013-14 Transactions Thread
As much as I like Wright, I would pull the trigger on this trade. If we could manage to keep Dalembert we could roll with a center combo of Asik and Dalembert and potentially give Blair some spot minutes there as well and we could let Blair play the 4 a bit behind Dirk.
More importantly our defense would improve by A LOT.
I don't think Houston really wants Wright though.NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers
NBA: Dallas Mavericks
MLB: Texas Rangers
NHL: Dallas Stars
NCAA: Alabama Crimson Tide

Re: 2013-14 Transactions Thread
Thought I would post some ramblings here because I have no idea where else I would post this.
I've been thinking about Heat roster moves, because everyone here knows I'm all about pretending to be Riley lol. First of all I was all in on adding on Oden and Beasley because I believed both of them would have a higher potential reward than risk. So far both are so-so, but improving.. I assumed the next offseason move would be to find someone to help their rebounding woes, or to replace Mike Millers bench scoring. Instead they contemplated on adding a 3rd PG. with rumors surrounding Mo Williams, Chauncey Billups, and Sebastian Telfair. Which unless they planned on trading one of their guards didn't make sense to me. Instead they ended up grabbing Roger Mason, which to me doesn't make sense still even at this point.
Initially I thought Amundson, Warrick, Tyrus Thomas, Chris Wilcox could all be guys who could come in and provide energy and rebounding off the bench. Especially Amundson because he's excels specifically at that role. My favorite choice was Ivan Johnson. I felt he could have provided aggressiveness along with fitting the needed role. And seeing Augustin play so well I now wonder why he wasn't considered as that 3rd guard. He's D and 3.. Exactly what they need. Back to Roger Mason. It seems to be guys like Jax, Shannon Brown, Pietrus, and Rip would have all been better fits. Pietrus is perfect in a D and 3 role. And now with Brown available he could be a back up scorer as well as play the 3rd PG role because of his ball handling.
And now recently they did add their 3rd guard in Douglas..who I don't believe has stepped on the court. He wasn't waived as some suggested, and he wasn't used to land Bynum as some suggested.. I guess the point of the post is to see if any of these moves make more sense to others here than they do me. Unless Miami plans to have another trade coming up I don't see the need of keeping a 3rd PG, and since Mason's contract is non-guaranteed I don't see why they won't try to explore other options to find the "backcourt help" they announced they needed.Comment

I can tell you're thinking about some of these moves from a short term POV instead of a long term POV like they have.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2013-14 Transactions Thread
For what though?
I mean when you're the 2 time defending champ and one of the 4 best teams in the league, you don't really need to focus on the short term like a team that is just looking to get into the playoffs does. What moves out there can they make that'll make them THAT much better than what they are right now?#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2013-14 Transactions Thread
Wade's what he is at this point in his career, so that's really all about managing that over the course of the regular season and to their credit, for the last 2-3 years, they've done a fine job in that regard.
All the other injuries to their players are basically regular nicks and bruises that they would've suffered over the season anyway but I think outside of Wade, this is the healthiest they've been all year. Other than that, any move they make, they'll have the long term in mind(read: Playoffs/Finals). But I also believe that their roster now is built to withstand injuries than in years past, mainly because they have guys who have continued to improve since they've been there and are upgrades over what they had previously. Now obviously, if Lebron suffers any type of significant injury, they're going to be ****ed regardless of who they replace his production with.#RespectTheCultureComment

Oh ok. Your long-term is the same as my short- term.

Re: 2013-14 Transactions Thread
I really felt the Heat should have got Jordan Crawford instead of Douglas as he can fill the void for when Wade sits out games. In fact, they could have traded for him easily because the Celtics received all the assets from the Heat, none from the Warriors. I guess it must've been for financial purposes (Crawford's contract is around $500k more than Douglas').Last edited by vtcha; 01-28-2014, 06:42 PM.Comment
