Is Allen Iverson TOP 5 SG All-Time?

Since Iverson officially retired today. Where do you guys rank him at? All time and SG all time.

I have him TOP 20 all time. And top 5 all time on SG position.

MJ>Kobe>Wade/West(didn't watch him, can't decide because of that)>Allen Iverson

Iverson was incredibly tough and courageous but not as good as these guys.

Bolded are the players that I don't put higher than Iverson. Obviously Drexler - Iverson is personal opinion.

This is soooo tough.... I can't imagine anyone who hated Iverson. I will say he will always be my favorite little man of all time. You just wish he got a ring.

Yeah, for me too. It is tough. Especially since you have MJ, Kobe, West and Wade locked for top four spots...and then there is number five open for Drexler, Iverson and T-Mac(biased all the way on Tracy). And maybe some other guys that I can't remember right now.

I'll take the bait on the discussion.

It depends on what you value more.

For instance, AlexBrady says he takes Ray Allen and Mitch Richmond before Iverson. I could never picture Allen nor Richmond taking a team to the finals in the modern era, like Iverson did.

However, Ray Allen in his prime was as good a shooting guard as you'd find in the league, and his longevity and ability to stay productive late in his career say something, unlike Iverson.

Mitch Richmond, only saw the mid 90's version of him so I can't say as much, but was he ever MVP type caliber?

Iverson for a stretch was considered one of the best in the league.

It really depends on your classification of some of the great guards.

West and Iverson handled the ball as much as any of the greatest point guards.

Every time I want to knock down Iverson for being a ball hog, I remember how crappy those teams he played with where on offense and how he carried them on his back with relentless force. The NBA might have been a bit watered down during the height of his powers, but he was amazing. I don't know if he's top 5 for sure but he's definitely in the conversation.

I wouldn't put him top 5 all time but He's definitely top 8.

I don't really have a top 10 because I have a large lump of guys that I can't really rank ahead of one another. I guess it would just depend on the situation with them..

But in another thread I ranked these 7 before ranking the other groups:
                              1. Jordan
                              2. Kobe
                              3. West
                              4. Drexler
                              5. Gervin
                              6. Iverson
                              7. Wade

And I'll stick to that for now. I'd love for Wade to have a couple bounce back seasons before he retires.. And depending how his career finishes up I might have him much higher..

But for now I put him there. Which doesn't mean I don't think he was as good as the others, when he was playing at his very peak he could slide all the way up to #2.. I just feel his best years didn't have the longer impact the others did. He had some great years, some years with just good numbers on garbage teams, and some years of basically a less than Pippen role, and lots of time injured.

In a way I kinda compare him to T-Mac. He's another guy who had a few years of total awesomeness.. Obviously I don't consider them at the same level and Wade has had much more longevity and impact than T-Mac. But that's just kind of an example. If both guys could have extended their top level play they would both be up there with Kobe.

Wade still has room to move on my list, I don't really like trying to make a rank of guys before they even finish their careers. For example, I didn't have LeBron, Kobe, or Duncan in my all time top 10 because those other 10 guys have a legacy while the guys playing now are still making theirs.
