oh thank god no acl tear. a couple guys tore their meniscus last year and came back within a couple months. heck Westbrook would've been back sooner had his stitches or whatever not gotten messed up and required additional surgery.

Damn.. I don't know if that's better than an ACL tear. Both suck, but chronic meniscus issues can end careers. It will be interesting to see what route they take in the surgery, go like Westbrook and repair it or like Brandon Roy and remove it. Repairing it will definitely be the better long term solution, but will take months to heal.

If he didn't apply weight evenly it's possible. Very much possible. Your lower half isn't built to have all the weight planted one leg for example.

how can anyone say rose will be back this year? he had HUGE mental issues last year, who's to say it doesnt happen again.

im guessing earliest he is back is very late january/all-star break with a 15% chance of missing the season

Definitely glad it's not a torn ACL for Rose.

From what I've read, a torn meniscus isn't as bad as tearing the ACL but it's definitely something you need to watch over the next few years because once that's removed and once you get to the point where your knee is basically bone on bone, it becomes a bitch once you get older.

Damn, feels like he hasn't caught a break since he won MVP because of all the injuries he's had over the last few seasons.

They will probably go with repair over remove.

Wade still talks about how he regrets removing it in Marquette. He blames his chronic knee injuries on that decision.

who's to say the world won't end today. meniscus isn't quite as serious, so I doubt he'll be to adversely affected mentally.

                    No need to rush him

Great that his other leg is holding up well also

Brandon Roy had multiple knee issues dating back to college so he was low on choices

                        Rose out 4-6 months....

He's gonna be like the Eric Lindros of the NBA(potential to be one of the best, and for years he did prove it,but then injuries messed up the rest of his career)

I think with meniscus it's not always a choice about how to deal with it sometimes it's not possible to fix and they have to remove it, I think depending on how severe the tear.

Hopefully they can repair it and he'll come back strong by the end of the season and be good for the future

4-6 months? Shouldn't that be more around 4-6 weeks? At least that's the timetable I've heard for meniscus tears. Chris Paul was out 8 weeks in 2010 with one.

I'm confused by how long it takes to heal if you repair it or remove it. Apparently removing it would get you back on the court sooner, but it's a much better long term decision to repair it. Anyone know what Westbrook did?

Yep, and what they do can always change depending on what they see when they get in there...
