Re: What rules in the NBA need to go?
Gives driving players no space to land and makes every call a judgement call on the refs part.. I like the restricted circle, I've wanted it to be a part of college and High School ball for awhile now.
As a player who attacked the rim a lot it was always a problem people sliding under me at the last minute and getting a charge call for landing on them standing under the rim. I don't want to see that in the NBA.
Would probably cut down on dunks and increase the midrange jumpshot "worst shot in basketball" which is not something the NBA would want to happen.Comment

Re: What rules in the NBA need to go?
They might as well. They let it slide about just as often as they call it.. Might as well just allow it and only call it if it's excessive.
However I think players defensive footwork is much better now that you actually have to slide your feet and not just try to nudge them with your arm.. Not saying everyone has Dennis Rodman defensive footwork or anything, I just mean the league as a whole.
But also if they allow too much hand checking, and continue to allow zone defense, people are going to start complaining because games will become even slower and less offensive oriented..
Teams are already taking 20 to 30 less shots per game, it's continually becoming a slower pace. Not sure if that's something the NBA wants.Comment

as long was we dont start adopting college rules for fouls now.....i can barely sit through an NCAA game now because they just turn into free throw contests anytime a team decides to dribble inside of 15 feetComment

Re: What rules in the NBA need to go?
Ged rid of goal-tending calls when a defender contacts the ball after it has hit the backboard unless it's within or on the square. Make offensive interference the same as international rules. Count blocked FGAs on shooting-fouls.
Enforce palming. Enforce travelling. Get rid of that delay of game thing after basket.***1971-72 ABA Roster 2K12 360***

Re: What rules in the NBA need to go?
You don't have to hit the square to make a layup though. Just makes for more judgement calls that all of us would complain about because in real time it'll be hard to tell if it was touching the square or not.. Where instant replay and slow GIFs will make it "obvious".Comment

I only say the square because it is parallel to the area above the basket where the ball can't be touched.***1971-72 ABA Roster 2K12 360***

Re: What rules in the NBA need to go?
I was just playing 2K14 and the commentators were discussing the possible regulations to eliminate the hack-a-Shaq procedures. I think it's a tough rule to write the language for, given the subjectivity of a foul--especially an intentional foul that doesn't involve the defender 'wrapping up' the ball handler.***1971-72 ABA Roster 2K12 360***

Re: What rules in the NBA need to go?
No no no no no no no no no! No hand checking. You shouldn't need to use your hands when you're playing D. It's pathetic if have to. Get low, shift your body, watch their waist, and use your body to keep your man in front of you. I know I'm not alone saying that I don't want to see every game turn out out to like a 90's Knicks-Heat playoff game. Those games are hard to watch. They got the big fella down there inside, and if you slow the game down a lot he'll get into position. You know he gone bang you all night.-Ben Wallace on Shaquille O'Neal at halftime, game 5 of the 2004 NBA Finals. Hope nobody takes this out of context...Comment

If you lean into a defender to draw contact, you should be the one called for a foul.Comment
