Re: Don\'t Count Out The Nets

Kenyon Martin was matched up against Ben Wallace in the Eastern Conference Finals last year. Martin did not back down from Wallace like a lot of forwards do, but instead took it right at him. He scored 16 points on 8-14 shooting in game 1, 25 on 10-19 in game 2, 19 on 6-12 in game 3, and 14 on 6-13 in game 4. Yes Wallace is a good rebounder and shot blocker, but whenever I have watched a player take it directly to Ben Wallace, he isn't able to dominate the game defensively like he can when he is is playing help defense.

Re: Don\'t Count Out The Nets

Were all of those made FGs when he was on Ben? No, they sure weren't. Ben played reduced minutes in the ECF and did not check K-Mart but about 15 minutes per game.

Second, a lot of those made FGs were on fast breaks. The Nets outran the Pistons last year. So, of the 50% made FGs, how many were on the break against transition D versus one on one?

Third, what does one match-up mean in terms of a statement like you made? Joe Dumars shutdown Michael Jordan about 75% of the time that they matched up....was MJ over-rated because one guy defended him well? Can you give me another example of Ben's "overrated-ness"?

Don't make blanket statements that you can't back up. Be honest. Say "I don't like Ben Wallace because he's not on the Nets so I call him overrated." I would respect that a lot more.

And what happend when they played this year? Ill enlighten you. Kmart scored 11 points (4/8 shooting) in the first meeting, 13 points in the second (5/17 shooting) and 13 points (5/11 shooting) in the last meeting. Stop living in the past, and using your only example from a time when Wallace was playing less than a month after a severe MCL sprain.
