Teams that should have re-signed players

I know some transactions can be business based, but what are some teams that should have re-signed players in order to either compete or defend for a championship.

Off the top of my head, I would nominate the Celtics in re-signing James Posey and Tony Allen, as well as the Mavericks with Tyson Chandler.

To be fair, I didn't really see that team as a true contender even if LeBron had re-signed. To me they were always one piece away from contention.

They brought it upon them self. They could have paid up for FAs and given Lebron a legit #2 option and solid role players.

Had Lebron stayed in Cleveland, maybe Bosh would've went to Cleveland instead of Miami? Or maybe Wade might have left Miami and gone to Cleveland?

It was really their choice of which city to go to, and they chose Miami for obvious reasons.



Raptors should've resigned McGrady(instead of just sign and trade). Even McGrady admitted(10+ years too late) he should've stayed in Toronto instead of leave. VC-McGrady duo in their prime would've made Raptors division contenders for years.

Yeah but at the time T-Mac wanted to leave and be that go-to guy.. Definitely his own fault. It's a shame. Two scorers who can both shoot outside and score go the basket would have been tough to stop. Especially since they were both pretty good passers for being big scorers.

unless lebron wade and bosh knew the entire time they were playing together then no....bosh/wade signed with miami well before the decision

I don't think they decided by Olympics, but they were discussing it then, and by the all star weekend is when decision basically happened. Raptors GM at the time(Bryan Colangelo) said that Bosh as soon as he came back from all star weekend really just seemed out of it and basically someone "got in his head".

So sounded like a decision came by all star weekend, so all the guys just continued on that season until it was over, then just had to wait until they were eligible to go where they wanted.

If Lebron stayed, Cleveland would have Mo Williams and Danny Green starting in the backcourt lol. No Kyrie, Dion, or Tristan Thompson since they wouldn't have those picks.

Why would he be a Wizard when they drafted John Wall a year earlier?

He'd probably go to Utah, so Utah would actually be pretty solid. Kyrie, Favors, Hayward, Burks (assuming they still draft him and not a big man), and either Jefferson or Millsap, since Kanter wouldn't be in Utah.

Lets say Cavs didn't do that deal(cause Lebron stayed), and Clippers kept their pick,and Cavs don't get 4th overall pick either(since Lebron is still there and they'd finish in much diff spot).

Clippers would draft Irving, Wolves and Jazz would stay the same, Raptors would get 4th pick and draft Thompson. Wizards go 5th and get Valanciunas.

Then Paul would've probably ended up with the Lakers since Clippers don't need a PG anymore(even with vetoed deal,I'm sure they probably would've worked something out eventually)
