I don't know why some are even surprised Memphis is in the playoffs.you look at thie rroster and they have alot of good player.Pau,J-Will,Bonzi,Stro,Mike Miller,Shane Battier and so on...

With that said,i'm going with Sloan, regardless if the Jazz make it or not in the playoffs.

Ya, I gotta go with Sloan also. He's done an amazing job with such little talent.

                              Main Candidates:

                              Hubie Brown, Memphis Grizzlies
                              Jerry Sloan, Utah Jazz

                              dieselboy's choice: Jerry Sloan

I think Sloan is the much more deserving candidate than Brown, but with that said Hubie Brown did amazing things. I mean, the Grizzlies have won 50 games thus far.

With that said, who thought the Jazz would be in the playoff hunt before the season started? Who thought the Jazz would be lucky to be a .500 team? Who thought the Jazz had a shot to be the worst team in the NBA, and were an early lottery lock? (Raises hand.)

Lets look at what Sloan has had to deal with. Sloan entered training camp having lost four of his top six scorers from the previous season. Two of those guys maybe you recognize, Karl Malone and John Stockton. The Jazz's big off-season addition? Oh, Keon Clark? Ya he went down with injury after two games. After a break out year last season, Matt Harpring's scoring went down before being lost for the season after just 31 games.

Sloan threw out his bread and butter, the pick and roll, using more of a two-guard front to help the before unheard of Carlos Arroyo. The move has worked very well, helping the Jazz score despite having no low post scoring threat. While Hubie Brown on the other hand has talent at every position. Not only every position, but also on the bench. Memphis is so loaded, thanks to the Logo himself, that he has almost 10 players on the team averaging 20 minutes or more. They can bring in anyone off the bench, and hardly miss a beat.

While Sloan on the other hand has a bunch of "Who is that?" for his team. Memphis counts seven lottery picks on its roster; Utah has one. Any guesses on who it is? Ostertag? Wrong. Harpring? Wrong. Kirilenko? Nope. Stevenson? Not him either. Its washed up has been, Tom Gugliotta. Who by the way, Sloan has playing arguably some of the best basketball since the late 90s.

Hubie Brown's acheivements shouldn't go un recognized, but the choice is clear, after 18 great seasons in the league, Jerry Sloan deserves COY. (BTW, Phil Jackson has voted for him six times).

                              <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

I choose the sleeper of the coach of the year: Stan Van Gundy

Think about both rosters for the Grizzlies and Jazz. They both had all-stars and decent rosters but who would think that the Heat would make the playoffs with their roster?
