Re: NY v. NJ series thread (SChedule inside)

The nets have just lost to Atlanta and Miami. Not taking anything away from Miami but they are not much better than thie knicks. Anyway those to games were lost partly because Kidd and Martin are not 100%. That is not going to changemuch in a week, giving to knicks the opportunity to slide past the nets.

On the KNicks side you can expect Marbury and TImThomas to both play decently but I think a decisive factor could be none other than Vin BAker. If he is able to produce, that will mean a lot for NY. Also the desicsion on whether or not Houston will play is also a big decision. I think he should be left off the playoff roster this year.

Ok, lets all get our heads on straight.

The Knicks wanted to face the Nets, for obvious reasons. Detroit and Indiana are tougher teams, the Nets are coming off of injuries and there will be a ton of Knick fans when they play over in Jersey.

But, lets be realistic here. Kidd and Martin did not sit out the last 2 or 3 weeks because they could not play. They had the second seed no matter how much they won or lost, and it gave them time to rest. Jefferson picked up the slack and now has an idea of when to take over on offense when everyone else is struggling. I see no reason why Martin will not be a factor. Kurt Thomas is a good defender, and a very good rebounder for his size, but he is not athletic enough to stop Martin.....its not like he will out muscle Martin in the post.

Marbury will take over. He did it last year when the Suns played the Spurs, and he will definitely do it this year, with success. But is Jason Kidd suddenly chopped liver? Have the Knicks found a way to stop the Nets fast break? Is Houston back?

There are just too many advantages for the Nets. I do think the Knicks will make it a very interesting series, but I definitely don't think they will win the series.

If the Knicks were smart, they would start giving Deke some playing time this series. Nets like to attack the rim, so Deke can be a factor in the half court defense. And yes, I do think Baker will need to have a big series if the Knicks want to advance.

      Predictions
-Marbury will have a huge series
-Knicks will not be able to stop the Nets fastbreak
-Kidd and Martin will show no signs of injury

i agree with that big time. if we can slow down the game and not let the Nets get out and run we have a shot but ill be happy with 2 or 3 wins in this series because b4 the season i just wanted us to make the playoffs.

Blah, I refuse to live in reality since my Knicks are now back in the playoffs. I JUST REFUSE!!! Houston is coming back like Willis Reed (yea, I just made that comparison). Watch out, the boy is going to light you for 40!

I personally think the Knicks have a great chance in this series. The main guys on the Nets are still hurting. But I think that Jefferson will have a big series. When Kidd and Martin were out, he played some great ball. It will be extremely competitive, and I think that the Knicks have the biggest chance for an upset here.
