Re: Pistons vs. Bucks: First Round Thread

Since it is clear that there are no Bucks fans on this board to discuss this series, I am going to post this picture just because I like it!!

Re: Pistons vs. Bucks: First Round Thread

It's the same thing every year for the Bucks no matter who's on the team: If Jeckyl shows up we win, if it's hyde we lose(or something like that). The Knick game was a great example. Bucks go up by 26 by the 3rd qtr, then completely shut down. So I can't really say I know what is going to happen, but I think we are improved versus last year in a couple of areas:

      - Det. can't exclusively use 2-3 zone against us anymore, because B. Skinner, Gadzurik and Joe Smith can light you up inside. Last year we had EJ and Joel P who couldn't stop fouling or bricking respectively.

      - Coaching...George Karl was a moron who didn't know how to use or control the talent we had before. Not the case this year.

      - We have more intelligent players this year...NOT Sam I am Cassell and Tim Thomas...Damon Jones and KVH are good replacements

      - We have a variety of scorers who can hit 30 anyday...KVH, DM(more like mid 20's) and MR.

      Weaknesses -

      - Inexpirience....they might freeze up during crunch time.

      - They still revert to jacking jump shots every now and then and can try to do too much and rack up turnovers FG %'s have varied wildly at times.

      - Defense - They still can look awful...I forgot DET's roster so I can't comment further.

Overall I think we got a chance if we can play at our best and of course we have to shut down BB.

Detroit rarely uses a zone. If anything, they use it for short periods of time just to keep other teams off balance. Most games they don't use it at all though. There's no long term benefit to using a zone defense with their defensive talent.

Milwakee's trouble will be Damon Jones. He has a good assist to turnover ratio however he's still not a quick, fast, or an athletic point guard who can make Detroit pay for trapping him. Detroit is going to take a lot of time off the clock just by hounding Damon. Milwakee is also a perimeter team which plays right into the hands of Detroit. They'll be up in the grills of the Buck's players forcing them to take it inside where Wallace Time's 2 will be waiting. The Wallace's will be doing a lot of cheating and helping out on the guards because there's no reason to give respect to the Buck's frontline. The Bucks will be lucky to average 80 points per game in this series unless they are hitting a lot of crazy shots.

On the other end.....wait, does Milwakee play on the other end.

            Detroit in a sweep.

Yep...and it's too bad for Milwakee. He'd give Detroit fits. Skitterbug point guards can make Detroit pay for pressing them. Fortunatly for Detroit, Milwakee doesn't have that right now.

I agree Ford would sometimes give the Pistons fits. But Lindsey Hunter is one of the better defenders and is pretty quick himself.
