My Problem with the NBA Playoffs
So i was just looking at the final standings and i realized, more teams make the playoffs then those who don't. Am I the only one who finds this ridiculous? What happened to earning your playoff spot. I mean there is a 5 and a half month regular season that determines what, which half of the league gets in the playoffs and which half doesn't. There is a reason why the regular season is sometimes sleep inducing. Also, the playoffs are about 2 months long. Again way too long. I know this will never change because of the revenue generated from the extra playoff games, but it should change to 4 teams a conference.Tags: None -

that's why the MLB and NFL playoffs seem to be more exciting. Also having these games on cable is pretty dume. Houston and LA on at 9:30 on a Sat. night?? Who is in charge over there?

I agree.. but it`s a timezone difference man.. it was 6:30 in LA when the game started. they can`t start earlier in fear of attendence dropping.. and having them on Cable is good during the week.. but on the weekends.. all games need to be on ABC.. and instead of 7 games in the 1st round.. it should be 5.. other than that.. I don`t see anything wrong w/ the Playoffs.Comment

I agree with everything you just said except the timezone difference. This is the playoffs, if you can't sell out the joint at any time of the day, your fans suck. The games here in Memphis are going to be a tad late (for a school/work night), yet they've sold out games 3 and 4. It's LA, they got 9 million people to sell 20k tickets to!
You're right, games on the weekend should be on networks, not cable. Also, first round should be 5 game series, those were always the best to watch.Comment

it's even more messed up when half the teams in the east (or a number around there) in the playoffs are under 500

That`s just because of the lack of talent.. honestly.. the East is lacking major.. bt it`s a competitive conference, so you expect more losses than wins in their fight for a playoff spot.. the West is almost a lock every year, w/ the 8th spot being the exception.. there`s always a fight for that.
And what I meant w/ the timezone difference is.. say you want the game to start at 5:00 on the east coast.. that`s 2 on the west.. what about work in LA ? Work comes before play, even w/ the Playoffs becuaase you have to feed and provide for your family, not go watch the Lakers.Comment
