Re: i thought i would never say this, but

I'd just like to throw in some of my comments here. You guys know I'm a Lakers fan. But I am also pretty objective to things and call them as I see them.

Here are my views on everything.

    - Kobe is a superb talent with tons of skill.
    - He is a black hole at times, but during the 4th quarter, there is no one else I would rather touching the ball.
    - I think for the first 3 quarters, he should be setting up his teammates, and creating shots for himself when opportunities arise. Not just taking shot whenever he wants.

    - Shaq's freethrow's are more of a liability than anything else right now.
    - Shaq isn't aggressive enough.
    - And when he is aggressive, he is too aggressive and gets too many fouls.

    That's just a quick assessment.

Shaq's FT shooting is ridiculous as of late. I really thought he had something going with his good percent last season.

Actually, Yao has proven over the last couple of seasons that he can at least make Shaq work for his points, which is more than you can say for 95% of the centers currently in the league. But the postseason is altogether different, as Yao is finding out. He's not getting dominated, he's being forced to play by a different set of rules than Shaq(I'm not whining here guys, I understand and accept that NBA officiating is based on a pecking order. That's simply a fact of life).

Personally, as a Rocket fan and Laker *****, I love to see Kobe run his "Bermuda Triangle" offense. Hopefully he'll keep doing it, and the Spurs will send LA on vacation.

Re: i thought i would never say this, but

Van Gundy and just about EVERY coach throws DOUBLE TEAMS at Shaq before he even touches the ball. That's why it's so difficult to get the ball into Shaq. But I agree that if Shaq should be the main offense and not Kobe. The thing with that though is that Kobe is one of very few players in the NBA that can create a shot for himself any time he wants or the team needs him to.

About Shaq's aggressiveness, he's not as fast as he used to be, most likely because of weight and injuries. If you remember the 11 game winning streak the Lakers went on near the end of the season, Shaq was rebounding the ball like a madman 'cause he said his knee was feeling okay. But now that it's started to ache again, look at what's happening...

If anyone's a ballhog... I'd say it's Steve "Dribble Dribble" Francis. I think that guy has a ton of talent, but his flashiness hurts him more than helps him.

The Kobe from the Sacramento game or
The Kobe that we all love/hate.

Without Kobe, the Lakers wouldn't be where they are. He may be shooting like crap right now, but what he does in the 4th quarter all makes up for it.

hey jenenst has some good points but i must say this. I think yao is the best player in the league to stop shaq and even though he can't do it he does the best jobe containing him. I mean its pretty hard to score on a guy like half a foot taller than you are especially in the post. I have seen some of the playoffs and i have seen shaq get the ball but then have to pass out because they send like two guys and with yao it makes it that much tougher. So i have seen kobe pass it to shaq. Also i don't really see kobe shooting as much as before i mean he is averaging 20 shots which i feel is ok. Also another thing you don't take into consideration is that shaq is always hacked. Sometimes it is before shots, and it pisses me off so much that this guy can't make free throws to save his life. I mean you would think that a guy would eventually get it. Shaq is averaging about 11 free throws per game but he is only make about 4 per game. I expect shaq to dominate rasho in the next round plus at least karl malone will have to draw duncan out other wise he will be shooting jumpers all night as evidence of his scoring outburst last game. Yes the lakers are starting to worry me, but its not kobe. Its just that i think they are taking the first round too lightly, and also houston is not a really bad team.
Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.
