A Nets twitter guy speculated that based on recent history, a first round pick would likely be involved (though most of the time when a coach is traded, it's not a coach that's about to be fired, so the situation is obviously way different here).

Personally, I expect that Milwaukee would, at the most, give up cash and a 2nd round pick, but nobody really knows at this point, and if it's a first round pick, regardless of protection, I will probably cry myself to sleep.

Ah, thank you, thats much clearer.

So wtf is kidd thinking, dude wants to go from coach to president of operations in about year? Is that why he did all that crap last year with demoting lawrence frank and what not. Cuz he has control issues!!??!! this makes little sense on the part of kidd, and if im the nets i wouldn't have done it either. He didn't even prove he could be a competent coach for a whole year, why is he trying to gain more power? I guess my whole issue is he hasn't earned nothing yet.

Nets should be trying to get a 1st rd pick back since nobody else will take him and it's clear that The Russians won't pay him anymore so why not?

Cash ain't **** for us as we've learned with this team since they got to BK.

        More like this

Some random dude on RealGM gives the spill on last Thursday saying his inside sources are saying this is whats happening... Posters on realGM were calling him a ballboy and troll. Turns out the guy was 100% right on every detail

Kidd goes to russian and demands a raise plus to run the front office

Russian says cool, ill give you a raise, but no way on the new position

Kidd yells and screams, but has a back door deal in place with the old Nets owners whom now owns the Bucks.

The Bucks get permission to speak with Kidd who wants to go there to be President of Basketball Operations.

Bucks coach and GM are like..what ..we didnt know anything either

Now Kidd and his former employer who is also about to be his new employer again (bucks new owners) are in talks to bring Kidd over to be President of Basketball Operations, but Nets are asking for picks to compensate them for letting him go.

          Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread

          Jason Kidd sucks....as a coach.

One of the best PGs in NBA history, but this will not end well.

First of all, with the highest payroll in NBA history, Kidd's Nets were woefully awful in the 1st part of the season and it was not until the middle/end (when many teams are tanking and not giving 100%) that they made their run to relevance. But, the reality is that coaching 2 future HoFers (KG and Pierce) and 2 many-time All Stars (Joe and D-Will) as well as having Brook Lopez for part of the season, AK47 for part of the season, and decent play from Blatche/Plumlee when guys got hurt, gift-wrapped Kidd a veteran team that could basically coach itself. Don't say "injuries" when EVERY team in the league was riddled with them (Rose, Kobe, Love, Holiday, Gasol, Wade, Rondo, Horford, Davis to name a few).

There was really nothing that Kidd did that stood out other than trying to cheat and spill drinks to get extra timeouts. And, as a known wife-beater, Kidd doesn't exactly have the cleanest image out there to stand on.

Bottom line is that Kidd is LUCKY that anyone gave him a chance to coach at all so soon and having never had any sort of coaching experience. If the rumors are true that he tried to get roster control, he's just out of his mind. Let him accomplish something as a coach other than nipping a too-young Toronto team with a team full of playoff experience and getting smashed by Miami before he gets a promotion.

I'm almost hoping the Bucks change their minds just so the Nets can outright fire Kidd. The way he's going about this is no way to conduct business.

Lol Mark Jackson not any better than Kidd there's way better candidates out there like George Karl and Lionel Hollins.

I understand your frustration but have you not been watching the league lately? Steve Kerr and Derek Fisher had no coaching experience. Its not luck at all. Kidd just not happy that hes one of the greatest PGs of all time and derek fisher is sitting across the river in MSG making twice as much as he is.

                      Yep.

The new big thing is being a coach AND the president of basketball operations and Kidd wants a piece of that pie.

This Jason Kidd thing is just insane. That dude has gone and lost his damn mind.

In other news. Mark Cuban says they won't be offering any max contracts to free agents. So we'll see how things go for them in this offseason.

The Mavericks plan on aggressively pursuing superstars in free agency but will not make maximum-contract offers, owner Mark Cuban said.

DALLAS -- The Mavericks plan on aggressively pursuing superstars in free agency but will not make maximum-contract offers, owner Mark Cuban said.

The Mavs have approximately $26 million in salary-cap space after acquiring center Tyson Chandler and point guard Raymond Felton in Wednesday's six-player trade with the New York Knicks. Dirk Nowitzki, the longtime face of the franchise, has repeatedly declared his intention to re-sign with Dallas on a hometown-discount deal that would still pay him well enough to feel "respected."

"You can come up with a different range in what Dirk is going to take and realize that for a player who has been in the league 10-plus years, he's not going to get a max contract here," said Cuban, who did not mention specific players due to NBA rules preventing teams from discussing free agents before July 1. "So coming in, he recognizes he's playing for less than max. That means there's some reason that he wants to talk to us. And if you look at the other teams, they're in similar situations as well.

"We've got to understand that most likely he's interested in winning championships and most likely he's seen over the course of time that coaching is a huge part of winning a championship."

I hate Hollins' stagnated Offense and we don't have the personnel to run Karl's Offense either(got too many slow/unathletic players).

Plus, pretty sure I said "Gun to head" meaning making a decision without thinking about other candidates at the time(key words there).

Isn't part of what makes Karl so great at coaching is that he adapts he system to fit the players he have. I believe that was some of the praise he was getting while at Denver.

Those future picks to Boston keep looking better and better with each passing month. Nets looking to cut payroll 2015-16, coaching turmoil, aging roster. Don't let me down, Brooklyn. Continue to do you.
