From what I've seen he's a decent perimeter defender despite his size. Gives effort and moves well. Have you seen him play much or are you just assuming? Idk what his defensive numbers would suggest but watching Sac last year, he looked like he could hold his own against most guards.
And sure, he's not a great distributor, but in today's NBA, scoring guards are having success. Nobody seems to question Kyrie as an above average PG, even though he's not a great distributor or defender.

Can't because he signed his contract after the lockout.

I haven't seen as much of Sacramento as I have of other teams, but the times I have watched he's gotten kinda abused on the defensive end. I also think I read that statistically speaking, opposing PGs hurt them more than any other position, and I just think it will be tough for him to get much better given the huge size disadvantage he has. I think he's best served as a super 6th man.

I don't think Kyrie is necessarily a max player but it's not bc of his skill level. His injuries and his chemistry issues with his teammates would make me hesitate greatly.

You can also put Rondo (5 yr, $55 million) and Dragic's (4 yr, $30 million) contract up there with Currys'.

As for Kyrie, although he isn't a top 5 PG in this league yet, I do think he deserves the contract because he is easily one the more 'marketable' players in this league especially after his Uncle Drew shenanigans. His jersey sale (which the team also generates revenue from) was ranked #9 last year, ahead of the like of Griffin, Harden and Westbrook. Though it is quite a hefty price to pay for talent, you can quite make the case from a business standpoint much like Kobe's recent extension.

I expect Livingston to be gone and with Kidd pulling his crap, I expect Pierce to leave now and KG to either retire or ask to get bought out since those two were extremely loyal to Kidd and part of the reason they wanted to come here in the first place.

Probably could've got Pierce back on a bargain but now we'd basically have to overpay to keep him now.

I think pierce and kg's best option is the clippers.

Can KG opt opt out, or would he have to demand a trade? I know he isn't the type to embrace change. Makes me wonder if he would consider retirement. One more run for PP & KG under Doc would be cool. I do question them leaving BK for anyone other than LA. Maybe PP if Danny over pays for a farewell tour with Boston. Doubt it, though.

There is a chance that Livingston follows Kidd to the Bucks.

The Nets should just blow it up because that core was going to be struggle city all year long and probably get bounced in the first or second round

IT on the Pistons would be interesting. I wonder if the Kings want to keep him that badly

Also, Ken Berger is reporting that if Greg Monroe receives a max offer, Detroit will likely sign-and-trade him.

I'm guessing he means that if he gets a max offer, Detroit would sign-and-trade him to that team before he signs the actual offer sheet, because the CBA is pretty clear that you can't sign-and-trade a restricted free agent once they sign.
