    Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread

Thabo started every game he played in last year, 61. At 26 minutes per game. He'll just be 3&D back up SG. Or if he had to, take some minutes as Ariza's cheap replacement.

I don't really understand Monroe, I don't see how they can afford him unless they have something Detroit would want in a S&T.

Damn I remember when they were talking about bringing Monroe to DC last year.

If they can somehow pull that off....man.

Idk why, he would never get the ball anyways.

IMO he's a much better fit with SA, MIA, CHI.

Unless he knows something I don't, I couldn't imagine OKC having a better championship pitch, and they have the least amount of money.

Im shocked there hasnt been any news on Parsons, if a team had need and the cap, Id force HOU's hand.

Mavs only spend two hours with Melo after six with the Rockets and nine with the Bulls. LaLa had issues with fans in the past, I'm sure she doesn't really want to come to Dallas.

The only reason I still give the Mavs a chance is they didn't go the whole nine yards with the photoshop and all that ****, they told Melo what they had: a culture of winning, Dirk, one of the best coaches in the game, and cap room set up for the future and they laid it out to him and told him what was up. Maybe he'll appreciate that after the obnoxious (IMO) pandering the other teams have been doing.

Doubt it though. Mavs are gonna end up with Parsons or Deng MAYBE.

iim thinking it would be a SnT with porter/seraphin/picks. i dont believe their cap space is high enough to ouright offer monroe more than detroit wouldnt match

@cavs, the closer to the 10th teams wait to offer RFA's the greater their chances at getting them are. since nothing is officially signed until the 10th, offering now would just give 7+ extra days for the team with his rights to consider matching... i would expect no later than the 11th someone throws a large contract at parsons

At least you have the pitch of recently winning a championship and pushing this years champions to 7 games.

It would definitely be interesting to see how Melo and Monta played off each other. I know a lot of people are probably laughing at that, but I think they could make a pretty lethal duo.

I don't think Parsons is worth more than $12 mil per.

i really think a monta-melo-dirk combo can put a beating on teams offensively.

1s at the rim while one of the other 2 has an open 18+ footer, or tyson is getting a dunk.

and now that tyson is back the defensive pressure on all 3 goes down some since they have proven rim protection.

interested to see what they do with their bench in dallas, regardless of melo's choice

@pack, completely agreed, but the contracts being thrown out there may be some team desperate for a young all-star talent wing going over that. i mean if hayward can get the max why not parsons...

In terms of getting Melo good looks I think the Mavs are honestly the best place for him. I know he'll get great looks in Houston with Harden and Dwight on the floor with him, but the kind of looks he'd be getting with Dirk and Monta would be glorious too.

Man to be honest..I'm in the air on Porter, granted he was hurt all year and when he was healthy he didn't get in the fame..I will keep an close eye on him during summer games..I'm more hype about Glen Rice

Monta and Melo are just both matchup problems. Melo is to big for guys his position and Dirks range allows him to post, yet he's too quick for guys big enough to defend him.

Monta is so quick usually it takes small guards to stay in front of him, or teams will just throw their better perimeter defender at him. But if a team makes that choice, then Melo again has the advantage.

I know people laugh at them for being "chuckers" but they both have been pretty unselfish most of their careers. Monta is a pretty underrated playmaker, and I doubt Melo would be allow to dribble the air out of the ball in Dallas. And that's really his only flaw, he doesn't really shoot TOO much, and he's not anti pass either.. You usually don't see him taking to contested shots over a double team of anything, he'll usually swing the ball.
