Wherever he goes is obviously a contender, but you don't up and leave and have to build chemistry elsewhere in order to get the same result you already have. In a town where your friends live, family lives, etc.

If he wants to leave he will leave, but to think Riley has to actually pitch something other than the winning culture he's already in.. That's ridiculous.

Ariza and Pau signing would be soooo good.

i dont think lebron has to be pitched at all. i think it really just depends on whats around him but i think the longer he waits the more it hurts the team, because who knows if these guys will commit to less money without knowing 100% lebron is coming back

        vtcha,

@majin, honestly it depends what happens with the wizards/bulls/paces/heat in the rest of FA

i think they will win the division again, but where they finish in the top 4..thats up in the air. i wont say first, but i think 2-3 is also a decent posiblity
If Pacers basically stay the same(except Lance is for sure gone isn't he?), Heat stay the same and Bulls get Melo, then I do see Raptors 4th,but even then, still could be a 50 win team, especially since Raptors get to play the Atlantic teams more than anyone else in top 4 contention of the conference.

            It's only been 2 days.

I agree with you when you say LeBron was the direct result of Miami's success. Without him, they probably wouldn't have made the Finals in any of those 4 years, especially if he was still in the East. But there's a reason why he couldn't get it done in Cleveland. The front office in CLE was incompetent and seemed like they refused giving LeBron any help. Miami has at least shown that they're looking to bring guys in to keep their success and to keep LeBron James.

Everybody needs to hop on that Terran Petteway train. If he declares, at least.

Its not like the Cavs refused to give LBJ any help, Gilbert was willing to spend and Ferry made solid moves, even though we never had a true #2, Mo was close. I always hated this narrative, just because we never added another all star talent doesn't mean they didnt attempt too, but this isnt the thread for this.

I'm sorry, but bringing in a washed up Shaq isn't what I'd consider a solid move.

Yes it has, but in those two days, Gortat and Lowry are gone, two guys who were supposedly on Miami's radar to help bolster the team going forward. Gasol, another guy they've talked about, appears to not be willing to take much of a paycut.

Unless you're talking about your bargain basement types that sign for a million, two million a year. Of course there's some of those guys still. But they'll go wherever he goes. Doesn't have to be Miami.

You never know with free agency, but if Lowry(one of most wanted free agents of this years class) gets paid 12M(which has him only 10th among highest paid PGs), Bledsoe doesn't have much bargaining room at this point, unless there's a team who doesn't care about comparing his salary to other players at his position and just pays what they think it'll take to outbid all other teams.

Cle definitely tried to bring talent in for Lebron. They tried hard to get Amare before they settled for Jamison. It just never went through. The problem was they settled to often and didnt seem to have a firm grasp of what the plan was. Jamison and Stoudemire are vastly different players as was Shaq. I think the difference is Riley has a clear cut plan and type of player he wants to sign every year and he goes out and tries to get them. A lot of that is about having a coach with an actual system which Brown did not have.

The chances of Gortat leaving for Miami were pretty much nil since he was looking for one last pay day and he loved being in DC and wasn't looking to leave.

Miami was never going to be able to afford Gortat. The only shot was if he decided he really wanted a ring and left for a season or two to be underpaid. I don't think many ever expected it to be a possibility.
