Byron Scott confirms that he interviewed with the Lakers for their HC job:

“I mean, it is true, I did interview with the Lakers. I talked to Mitch Kupchak and Jim Buss and had a great time talking with those guys. Obviously I go way back with Mitch, teammates for a while and won a couple of championships together, so it was good. That’s basically all I can tell you. It was good, I had a lot of fun talking to them. Hopefully we’ll be talking again soon and we’ll see what happens.”
    Per Marc Stein:
The Minnesota Timberwolves have made “significant progress” in their attempts to hire Dave Joerger away from the Memphis Grizzlies to be their new coach, according to sources close to the process.
Sources told ESPN.com that, while compensation details with the Grizzlies still have to worked out, Minnesota’s fast-moving bid to make Joerger its next coach is gathering momentum.
Marc J. Spears @SpearsNBAYahoo Follow Clarifying: Lionel Hollins, Sam Mitchell and Dave Joeger among candidates still in mix for Wolves head coach job, a source said.

Consistency is key with Westbrook like you said at the end..

And I know Durant is an efficient monster during the season but his playoff shot selection has been just as bad, especially late in games.. If Westbrook has been JR. Smith, Durant has been Melo.. Not to mention he turns the ball over nearly every time a double team has been thrown at him. Durant averaging 4 assists per game while also averaging 4 turnovers.. That's not good enough for him.

From Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports:

After meeting with Minnesota Timberwolves president Flip Saunders on Thursday, Memphis coach David Joerger is scheduled for a sit-down talk with owner Glen Taylor that could ultimately clear the way for him to become the Timberwolves coach, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

The Grizzlies are likely to ask for a second-round pick in exchange for letting Joerger out of his contract to coach the Timberwolves, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

The worst-kept secret in the offices of the Berto Center continued trickling out.

While general manager Gar Forman has remained poker-faced about the future of Carlos Boozer in a Bulls uniform, several sources indicated that reserve power forward Taj Gibson was told by his coaching staff to start preparing this offseason to be a starter come tip-off 2014-15.
Gonna be a party the second the news is official.

Maybe the Lakers will take him. They always want to sign everybody.

                oj..and anyone else.

In a hypothetical situation..where Bosh is gone, would you rather have Gasol or ZBo on Miami?

I'm a Bosh supporter, but just a thought

I'm a Bosh supporter, but just a thought

If Bosh is gone, and assuming Wade takes less, possibly LeBron as well, they would have a large amount of space to work with.. Because I believe Cole is the only other player under contract?

With that space I'd want to see a combination of 2 or 3 signings..

Lowry, Deng, Gasol, Marion, Pierce, Hawes, Stuckey, Gortat, Ariza, Blair, Livingston, Butler, Okafor, Hill, Meeks, O'neal - all unrestricted FA after this year

In a perfect world they would sign and trade Bosh to a team with a late first round pick. Preferably to Houston for Asik and their first, considering Bosh takes a cut low enough for that to work (highly unlikely).. Houston's fascination with landing stars should be perfectly ok with this if the Melo plan falls through.

Battier I believe is retiring, I think they should replace what he brings.. Best case scenario being Deng (unlikely), Marion, Ariza, Pierce would be great signings, though Ariza would be expensive and Pierce is a zero shot chance.

If they could get a sign and trade and land a good big man, like the Asik scenario, I would go hard after Lowry.. If not ZBo would be perfect but he has a player option. Leaving Gasol as the only realistic fit.. Assuming Gasol takes an over-the-hill contract they should target another big man to play along side him or as a backup. Hill, Okafor, JO, just someone who could rebound..

Adding a stretch four to hopefully completely replace Lewis would be a decent move.. A guy like Jeff Adrien who played extremely well at the end of last season would be a great fit. And they desperately need a Wade sub, Meeks or Stuckey hoping that neither of them want much money or would be interested in chasing a ring in Miami.

If they have two picks I think they take Isaiah Austin and either a Wade backup like Adams, or Kyle Anders, Napier, Early, Robinson, Hairston, just depends who's available.. If they don't add another pick I still think Austin is the best fit for what they like. An extremely tall stretch 4 with range out to the 3, with promising ability as a shot blocker.. Won't have an instant impact but if LeBron is around long term I think he'll be a great compliment player. I know most people like Napier, but I think Chalmers/Cole is good enough, especially if they win 3 straight with them. There's always possibility of them adding another guard through signing or trading, I feel experience at that position is what's best for them. They need youth and athleticism more to fill Wade's role or LeBron's when only one of them is in.

I realize a lot of my post is scrambled and doesn't make much sense lol.. But my main point is that if Bosh is out they need to replace him with multiple signings.. I don't think just adding ZBo or Gasol in replace of Bosh is helping the team move forward or stay on top, if they end the season on top.

At this stage I'd say GSW and Phoenix have the most realistic chances of enticing the Timberwolves for Kevin Love. With the emergence of Draymond Green, I can definitely see the dubs packaging something like David Lee, Harrison Barnes, and perhaps Klay Thompson for Love, Dieng and Barea? Phoenix on the other hand could pull a sign-and-trade with Bledsoe (assuming he agrees) as well as some draft picks.

                        Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread

It'll be very interesting to see how the Heat roster will look next season.
At the moment, Cole is the only guaranteed, with Haslem, Birdman having player options.
I think Battier has alluded that he will retire this season but I think Ray Allen will play one more season.
I'm hoping we will re-sign the Big 3 + Haslem at a discounted rate again, re-sign Allen and Chalmers, and Birdman opting in. If we can keep in tact the core, I think areas of improvement we really need is a defensive wing that can drain the 3, and some size/rebounding. We can replace Battier with someone that is effective but won't break the bank like Wesley Johnson? As for rebounding, we could try go after Varejao, assuming the Cavs decline the team option.

I still have a gut feeling the Big 3 are going to take pay cuts and lure a good friend down to South Beach if you know what I mean
