    Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread

I wouldn't say eating up what they say Pack. If a dude spends the better part of a year saying stuff like "I wanna win and I wanna win now" then I don't think it's wrong to call him when he proceeds to do the exact opposite of that. We spent a year calling out Dwight for the **** he was saying and doing in Orlando so I don't see why now Melo is in the clear. Having said that it's okay to have hope that he was going to live up to his word, but you damn sure shouldn't have been banking on it.

Also ThreeKing, clearly you weren't paying attention. I didn't say I wanted Deng, I just know Pau isn't coming here and that's what we're gonna end up with at least that would be the best left for us to get. Overpaying Lance is a damn joke.

      Pau is gone now.

They won't be able to get Bosh.

They should overpay Stephenson for 2 years make sure he comes.

I don't believe a damn word a pro athlete says, why would anyone? In this day and age most guys have such carefully crafted images and keep things PC and bland to avoid any and all controversy. They aren't speaking from their heart or hinting at their true intentions.

What pro athlete is going to come out and say "I don't care about winning, just give me as much money as a possible."? Of course every player wants to win, it just has varying places on everyone's priority list. Melo wants to win, of course, he just wants $129m more than he wants a ring. I can't blame him, I'd do the same damn thing and call it a day.

Deng is old af, Ariza only shows up during the contract years, and even then, can't get go get you a bucket when needed. Lakers need to stop going after these has-beens and never-were's, and get an influx of young talent... Lakers are not winning now, so they need to find a way to play some respectable basketball but build towards the future. Lance is 23 years old, Randle is 19, Isiah Thomas is cool, but I'm not too fond of that 5'9, I would prefer to go after Bledsoe before speaking to Thomas...

And Pau is gone. No way he's coming back to win 27 games.

Again, when does an Athlete NEVER say that? What competitive athlete doesn't want to win? It's why I snicker inside when they say that because what's the other option then? Saying "I wanna lose"? Or "I don't care about winning"? Hell, I'd have more respect for them if they were to say that because at least they're not selling me no BS line like "I wanna win" that every athlete from the Star to the Scrub always wants to use.

And who said Melo was in the clear? Certainly not me because I've been saying all along for the last year that(And you know this as well)that he was never going to leave or turn down that extra $30 Mil. It's always easy for us Fans to say "(Insert Pro Athlete)should leave that extra money" when it's not OUR money and I've made this clear from last offseason thru the playoffs and into this offseason, so it's safe to say that I was pretty confident he wasn't going to leave.

Yeah Pau is gone. Going after Bledsoe is a waste of time, Suns will match plus he's injury prone. I say go after Thomas and Stephenson.

BEFORE that he also spent over a year saying how badly he wanted to play in NYC, and after getting on the Knicks saying he wanted to do whatever he could to bring THEM back to relevance. He's also talked for years about loving the area, his wife loving the area, and spoke recently about not wanting to move his kids out of school again and how he didn't like when it happened to him as a kid.

There have been plenty of things out of his mouth about wanting to be in NYC for things other than money but people have been ignoring them.

Most importantly, the "if he wanted to win he'd go to [insert team here]" thought makes no sense anyway. Not one of these elite athletes is thinking "I want to go to a team full of all stars so I can win a ring." They're thinking "I want to be on a team that can win a ring." Even the Miami super 3 had that mind set. He could believe he can win in NYC. He's still the alpha, only wanting pieces to be put around him. This isn't late career Ray Allen going to a pre-made contender to get another ring.

LOL, I'm not going to try and be fake and pretend him not coming here doesn't suck. It blows, no question.

I'm also not going to hang on every word what an athlete says. But all Melo did was talk about taking less money and that winning was the most important thing. THAT'S A FACT.

I guess when these guys totally contradict themselves and stumble over their own bull****, we're not supposed to say anything.

You want to be one of those athlete-slurping-apologists, be my guest.

                            I'm not of those guys.

Don't the Heat owe the Cavs a first round pick next year as part of the LeBron S&T?

                              Hilarious if they do.
