Meanwhile, GSW didn't do anything with the $9.8M traded player exception from the Richard Jefferson deal to Utah. Expired at 9 p.m. Pacific.

Does anyone know how a trade exception is created, or how you obtain one? One of the many things that's always baffled me about the CBA.

        Traded Player Exception[edit]
If a team trades away a player with a higher salary than the player they acquire in return (the deal hereafter referred to as "Trade #1"), they receive a Traded Player Exception, also known as a "Trade Exception". Teams with a trade exception have up to a year in which they can acquire more salary in other trades (Trade #2, #3, etc.) than they send away, as long as the gulf in salaries for Trade #2, #3, etc. are less than or equal to the difference in salary for Trade #1.

This exception is particularly useful when teams trade draft picks directly for a player; since draft picks have no salary value, often the only way to get salaries to match is to use a trade exception, which allows trades to be made despite unbalanced salaries. It is also useful to compensate teams for losing free agents, as they can do a sign and trade of that free agent to acquire a trade exception that can be used later. Note this exception is for single player trades only, though additional cash and draft picks can be part of the trade.

I still don't see how the "Melo to Miami" isn't being talked about more. Melo honestly has no real reason to be taking as long as he has imo. I can't see any real possibilty of him going to LA, Dallas just doesn't seem to fit, and Bulls still have an uncertainty with Rose. No one really knows if Rose is going to be the '10-'11 player we once knew. If he was this confused he would take the safe road and go with the 129 mil and play where he is comfortable at the moment.

As a Heat fan I will always appreciate what Bosh was able to do for us. If he didn't return for the 2012 playoffs after being injured in round 2 by the Pacers i'm not sure we win that title. Not to get too off topic, but I just believe Melo to Miami is a STRONG possibilty even stronger than what most are saying. Anyone also realize Josh Mcroberts is basically a white Bosh? He plays almost identically as Bosh, stretching the floor and hitting 3s. Neither rebound tremendously and Mcroberts is overall a better passer but doesnt score as much. Miami could make up for the scoring by aquiring Melo.

With that being said, I sense Mcroberts was signed to replace Bosh. I do feel Melo to Miami is in the works. Im not too much of a numbers guy so not totally sure how much of a cut Wade, Bron, Melo would have to take, but the longer this drags on I believe that this becomes the most reasonable explantion. We'll see though and hopefully it all comes to light today or soon, but I don't see LeBron leaving Miami even if he signs just a 2 yr contract.

Don't get me wrong either because I don't believe Mcroberts is better than Bosh, he just has similar qualties and is a few years younger so he isn't a bad alternative. Like I said i'm not a numbers guy but if everything goes as planned I could easily see this being the Heats roster come next year barring any contract disputes. I am probably a tad off on the roster becuase I believe the Heat are looking at a sign and trade for Rio (Mario Chalmers).

That's probably what's going to happen, at which point I'm going to be pissed. If they're doing that, stop toying with everyone and just do it.

Yeah, I don't think it's cool to toy Bosh along like that. At least respect the dude who helped win you two titles and tell him to go make that money. With that said though my gut feeling says this 100% happens either today or early next week.

Which brings up my next question. Who the **** goes on vacation out of the country the first two weeks of free agency? Something isn't right.

Bosh is being a light skinned girl and reading Pat and LeBrons text telling him to go and just pretending he didn't see it like "aye im the biggest free agent in the world look at me on this camel!" lol but really financially and just basketball wise I believe Houston is the best option. Bosh doesnt make the off the court money that Wade, Melo, James make so cash in big fella.

Also, Pat last week flew to LA to meet with "free agents" probably Melo while Melo was in LA meeting with the Lakers just was kept underwraps most likely. If I was Bosh i'd have to jump on that Houston offer pretty soon though. He can't sit and ride elephants and miss out on 90 mill just because he isn't sure what LeBron is doing.

What does Toronto's situation look like money wise? Would they have enough for Bosh to return after signing Lowry and Derozan? They'd most likely come out of the East if he somehow went back.

Think they're around 56 million or so in salary after re-signing Lowry.

I want him see him in Dallas, if he ends up leaving. I think he could be really good there. They may struggle with perimeter defense, given that Ellis and Parsons aren't great defenders either, but I'm sure Carlisle can find a way to work it out.

Why would Thomas go to Phoenix to come off the bench when he can go somewhere else and start?? Makes no sense to me.

No. They're pretty much right at the cap after re-signing Lowry, Patterson and Vasquez.
