Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Such bull**** man. So somebody will trade for this dude Josh Smith and his 14 million a year for the next three ****ing years and Phil can potentially get a deal together to ship out Amar'e and his 23 million dollar deal but Boozer's expiring 16.8 is unmovable? **** NBA GMs *kicks over a chair*

But I think Boozer is really really bad. I'd probably take Josh Smith out of the 3. But it might be a tie between Amare and Boozer lol.
I will never understand their moves.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

I would definitely take Josh over Amar'e and Boozer. I still feel like in the right situation with the right coaching he could redefine his game and become one of the better and most impactful players in the league.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Why do people still feel like this? Josh Smith is a knucklehead. Dude is about to be 29 years old in December. He is what he is. There's no salvaging him at this point. This dude is the case study for Russell Westbrook. Westbrook will be doing the same **** he does now at 29 and dudes will still be talking about the right situation turning it around for him. If you haven't solved maturity issues at this point in your life, you never will. Not while you have productive career years left anyway.Comment

When has he ever had a coach good enough to set him straight and get him playing right? Detroit was a complete mess last year and in Atlanta he had bad coaches plus he was put in the role of always being the second option at worst.
I feel like if he had a coach like Rivers, Thibodeau, Popp, Carlisle, etc and was on a team where there was actual leadership he would be great.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

Because we've seen guys salvage their careers countless times in the past.

Some of those guys, Doc, Thibs, Pop, they don't get through to every one all the time. Would it be nice to see if they can? Sure, but it's no guarantee that you just send somebody like Josh to them and he's suddenly okay. Even if they got him towards the right track, he still wouldn't be worth the 14 million a year he'd be getting. But bottomline, I don't think he's one of those dudes that can change who they are. He thinks he can shoot, so he'll continue building houses among other issues he has.Comment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Definitely takes a special situation for Smith. If he didn't have such a ****ty contract maybe those special situations would have taken a chance on him but he has 3 more years at 13.5 million. Yikes.Comment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
The coach thing is relative though. Larry Drew wasn't a leader? Mike Woodson? Both of those guys coached teams that he was on to winning seasons. Everyone else seemingly bought in.
Who are other players with the on court mentality of Josh Smith that have been salvaged?
He is who he is, and he isn't going to change.Last edited by JODYE; 07-17-2014, 09:41 AM.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

I think the difference with someone like Westbrook is that neutering his aggressiveness would also hurt what he brings to the team...that's something he'll have to develop internally and figure out
Josh Smith in a situation where he's not relied on heavily for offense...just play defense
rebound, and attack could really help a team IMO..
No doubt in my mind there are coaches out there that can all bit eliminate that long 2 from his game...Comment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
How many guys have we actually seen go from knucklehead to turning it all around though? Yeah, we see guys who had potential in their games but could never put it together or just overwhelmed by the NBA eventually come into their own put it together with a good coach, but how man knuckleheads suddenly aren't knuckleheads? And going to Sacramento certainly isn't going to solve Josh's problem.

Don't get me wrong though, I do agree that some guys are just lost causes no matter what the situation.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
I'd take Smith over Boozer at this point.
And an expiring contract by itself doesn't carry the same weight it used to. Otherwise if they did, guys like Boozer and Amar'e and anyone else with a year remaining on their contract would've gotten moved easily. GMs don't just want expiring contracts, they want more included in any deal.#RespectTheCultureComment
