I don't think waiving them does Cleveland any good. They need to be included in a Love deal in order to make the salaries match.

Now if Cleveland and GS want to wait it out until the deadline, that's cool for them because they can offer trash at that point, but Minnesota needs to be trying to get a deal done now.
Possibly but it's July 22nd. You guys are acting like it needs to happen right now when Love is still under contract through the next season. As far as I've heard they've gotten only 2 offers for him. They are a small market team. Their options are limited if they lose Love. They SHOULD be patient and get the best deal they can.

I guess I didn't. The way you have it worded makes it look like you're thinking they haven't already signed him.

They don't exactly have to pull the trigger RIGHT this minute, but there aren't going to be any better offers man. There's only three teams on his list of places he'd sign an extension with (or at the very least opt in to his final year with) that has the assets to make a play for him. So there isn't some mystery team that's going to swoop in at the last minute and trade for him without knowing he'll sign with them. We know the teams involved in this already and what assets they have to offer. The closer to the deadline we get, the worse the offers are going to get. It'd be different if he was like Melo and clearly wanted his money and a single team of his choice because the Wolves could leverage that into a pretty good haul as Denver did based on New York not wanting to take a chance on him saying **** it and going to Brooklyn cause he wanted his cash more than anything.

Fair point. My point was the bulls were a lot more likely to get a deal for kevin love done before they signed Pau. Opportunity window may have already closed despite whats being reported.

what if they are sending pau to minny... :P

i figure if love ISNT traded he will be SnT because these teams he wants to be on dont really have the money to give him the contract he will demand..but at that point minny is getting the bare minimum back

Their contracts aren't guaranteed.. They can waive them without owing them anything.

Mavs going to kick the tires on Jameer Nelson on Thursday. I hope Dallas can find a stable PG, that's their weakest link obviously. All they need is a quarterback

Members of the Mavericks front office are scheduled to hold a face-to-face meeting on Thursday in Dallas with free agent point guard Jameer Nelson, Marc Stein of ESPN tweeted Tuesday night.

I think Jameer could add some really good value to a playoff team. He's pretty solid all around

You mean Minny correct? Cause again, what would be the purpose of Cleveland waiving them when you need their salaries in a Love deal

I really hope some team trades for love and he turns right around and just leaves them. I'm so sick of these teams pulling crap like this just bc of their impatience. Could you imagine a Cavs with wiggins, waiters, Irving, Lebron and love. They would be a serious threat. Or even GSW with Klay (assuming he's soften that max BS he's. Demanding), Barnes lee love and curry? That's an amazing lineup. Yet these teams are throwing away assets just so they can get their hands on him now. They should just be worried about pitching to him why he should come there in the first place.

I'd be cool with this. Nelson, Harris and Felton at point guard is good enough when you have the strength elsewhere the Mavs have.

Nick Johnson, the 42nd overall pick in June’s NBA draft, will sign a fully guaranteed, three-year rookie contract with the Houston Rockets, a league source told RealGM.

I really wanted us to give Jameer a look because I think it'd be fantastic to get a player like that for what he looks like he'll be making this late in the free agency game. I'm a little disappointed that we didn't give him a shot, but I'm also a little excited to see what Thibs' system can do for Brooks. Every year since he's taken over this team, he's made some backup PG relevant. CJ, John Lucas, Nate, DJ, hell even Hinrich. Hopefully Brooks can continue that trend.
