to be honest, I'm looking forward to the 2015 offseason thread so we can try and lure in Kevin Durant (wishful thinking)..We get him with Wall and Beal..We can go get the whole damn thing

Maybe Porter can be that guy next year.

Stan Van Gundy possibly coach of the Pistons? I like it. He'll be great until the owner fires him in January.

Sounds like svg is just about out. Who's next best option here? Mike Brown? Lol

Ariza's as good as gone, might as well accept it now. But honestly, if they are going to lose a starter, that's probably the best spot. Even if they lose some other bench guys, they've got plenty who could fill in at the 3, starting with Otto Porter. I don't know why Webster doesn't get more minutes either but they've got some depth there.

You can forget about Durant too. There's no reason for him to leave OKC, and even if he did I'm sure there will be plenty of competition for his services. It's been decades since home town ties meant anything to professional athletes.

SVG throwing his weight around I trust him to make sound decisions

The Warriors ownership can be stuck with a re-tread or a downgrade in coaching lol. They have all the right to get rid of Mark Jackson but I hope it was worth it if they end up shooting themselves in the foot

The only name that even comes close to me is Melo, and he was still chasing dollar signs... plus the Garden just generally has more of a historical draw than the phone booth.

Melo never claimed BK/NYC as his home, that whole "coming home" thing was so dumb. That big *** WB on his shoulder for West Baltimore, don't see a BK or NYC tat anywhere.

He did/does claim it as his home though. But as a Baltimore native (West Baltimore at that), that mess always pisses me off. Apparently he was born up there but whatever.

I never bought that mess because we all know that he's a Baltimore dude and that "claiming" NY makes it easier to market him.

But as far as NBA/NFL goes:
-Josh Morgan(DC Native)signing with the Skins a few years back.
-James Jones(Oakland/San Jose native)signing with the Raiders this year.
-George Hill(Indianapolis native) being traded to and eventually extending with the Pacers.
-Nick Young(LA Native)signing with the Lakers(also played for the Clippers but was traded there).

I'm not saying that the hometown part carries a lot of weight because I know it doesn't and at the end of the day, it's going to come down to money(and other factors). Those are just a few examples and I'm sure there are more but I do think that the hometown part does play a role, albeit a small, small factor.

                            More SVG News:

                            From Woj:
Detroit owner Tom Gores is willing to do “whatever it takes,” one source says, to recruit Van Gundy.
Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA Follow If a deal's reached in Detroit to make Stan Van Gundy president/coach, he's looking closely at hiring Otis Smith as GM, sources tell Yahoo.

Not a big fan of Otis Smith, but if Stan Van Gundy has the final say on everything, it'll mitigate that. Best coach we've had since Flip Saunders, although that doesn't say much. If it takes full control to get him on board, it is completely worth it.

Hopefully we won't get screwed over in the lottery.

He liked the Raptors growing up. Send in Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady(two guys he idolized growing up) to lure Durant in! I just hope if Durant does leave OKC, he doesn't just go to Miami,LA,Chicago,Boston or something like that. Him or Lebron should go to Charlotte or Milwaukee lol. They won't just be face of the franchise, they'll be the face of the entire state.

That reminds me...what might happen to OKC with Durant gone? I remember Barkley was ripping on OKC about how the team/fanbase will basically be dead once Durant leaves. OKC is one of the luckiest cities in the history of pro sports, and after Durant leaves,it'll be interesting to see what kind of support the fans give the team when they start having bad seasons.
