Re: who\'s the best West team so the East to have a chance at winning?

I think it depends on the East team...

Indiana matches up best with Minnesota because Jermaine O'Neal struggles against Center that are bigger than him. Shaq and even Brad Miller would be a tough matchup for him.

New Jersey probably matches up best with L.A. because of speed. New Jersey can't win in a jumpshot contest. They need to run. L.A. is probably the slowest of the remaining teams.

Detroit likely has the best chance against the Kings. Sacramento has to outscore you to beat you. Detroit's less than stellar offense needs a series they can win on D.

Granted all three assesments are based on paper. Injuries change the dynamic of a series so quickly. I don't think NJ or Detroit have enough left in the tank (or foot or knee) to go 7 with the West after their series ends.

Re: who\'s the best West team so the East to have a chance at winning?

I was thinking about this last night. IMO, the best possible scenario for an East team to win would have to be a Detroit/T'Wolves matchup.
Detroit has 4 big men to throw at Garnett. Billups/Cassell matchup would be a good one with Cassell having the edge, but why not try Prince on Cassell, and slide Billups over to cover Hassel. Spree would have a hell of a time chasing Rip all over the floor, in and out of picks.

I don't think anyone can beat the Lakers no matter who the team is, and the Kings are scary because they've come so close many times in the past to get to the Finals, that I think if they actually got there, they would play their hearts out to win it all.

Nets would most likely get swept by LA, and after seeing how they did against the Spurs in last years playoffs, with pretty much the same team they have now, I don't see any reason why the Kings or the Wolves can't do the same against them this year if they were to play in the Finals.

Pacers would not be able to beat the Lakers in a 7 game series. Jermaine and Artest are very good, but the Lakers are just too powerful, and would not be stopped. Who would cover Shaq??

Pacers would also be at a disadvantage against the Wolves and Kings at the guard positions.

great analysis, and picking the Pistons over the Nets in this case, means I know there's no fanboyism there

I'm kinda wondering if Sheed's foot injury would kill any shot Detroit has at the finals...though he's got a lot of heart, playing really tough

                              Twolves.

Its rare to have both cassell and spreewell at full throttle for the same game. Garnett struggles a little in physical games where the opposing team keeps a body or 2 on him for the entire game.

Pacers beat twolves , Detroit maybe depending how much Rip hamilton gos off

It looks like Lakers vs Pistons to me
