The funny thing is, kobe got himself in this situation (being a sidekick to shaq) when he didnt want to play for lowely Charlotte and wanted to be traded to play for a big market team.

Without Shaq, he'd be having more games like he did Sunday

<hr /></blockquote><font class="post">so without shaq, you don't think he could put up 30 per game over the course of a season win or lose? since he has shaq, I guess he can't be considered a great player yet. Maybe I should have left MJ out of the equation.

Baron and Pierce are nowhere near the player Kobe is. McGrady is right there next to him, but to me Kobe has gained the edge. He goes up against tougher competition night in and night out, he's played very well in huge games for LA.

Pippen was a great player, and it is unfair to say that Pippen fell off after Jordan left because he didn't in 1994, and after 1998, Pippen was already old. The Bulls won 55 games in 1994 without Jordan, and lost in the 2nd round in seven games. If his support cast was so terrible, they wouldn't have been able to do this. The players that Jordan played with (Pippen, Ho Grant, Paxon, Armstrong, Kerr, Harper, Rodman, Kukoc) are vastly underrated in terms of what they meant to the team. If you actually watch old Bulls games, Jordan was incredible but his teammates were not scrubs. I don't know why all the Kobe haters want to make it seem like he isn't even close to Jordan...of course he is. While I'd still say Jordan is better, Kobe is very close, and one day might even be better. Open your eyes, Kobe is insane.
