He's one of the 3 best passers in the league at the point guard position, and he's also an elite defender, which very few people realize.
He already turned down $12 million a year. I'd be surprised if he ends up getting less than that.

My problem with Rubio is he's basically been the same exact player since he was 16 years old with no discernible improvement. How many players ever reach all star level after a 7 year plateau?

My other problem, I just don't think a winning team can play a PG that shoots 38% from the field big minutes. Not in today's league.

If Rubio could shoot average to above average, he'd be a max player.

I don't think it's the shooting that's the issue, because we see guys like John Wall and Rajon Rondo who, albeit are better shooters than Rubio, have plenty of success without great shooting. I think what Rubio needs is the ability to get to the rim and then finish at the rim. If he could do that, he would add another dimension to his offense that would expand a Rubio-led offense, with his sensational passing, to new heights. I still think he can figure it out. The shooting will come with time (I mean, Jason Kidd was an awful shooter early in his career but managed to turn it around later on), but it's his inability to score in the paint, especially since he has great size for a guard, that concerns me. That's what he needs to improve on the most in my eyes. Also, in spot up opportunities, he's actually better than the league average from three, and is a 33% three point shooter overall, which isn't good, but it's not awful (note: he's also an 80% free throw shooter, so getting to the rim would also allow him to shoot more from the stripe which would be a good thing). I think he could be a 15-10 type player and more than worthy of starting for a contender if he can improve (again, he is only 23).

To me steph is just an all star not superstar but he is on the verge of being a superstar to me. He has improved a lot the last few years. Up in till the last 2 season all he could do was shoot but now he can go 1 on 1 plus he is a great passer. I think in other year or 2 he will be a superstar but has far has I am causerd there are only a few superstars. The only superstars in the league right now to me are James, KD, chris paul, keven love and maybe larmacus algerd. Kobe was before last year but I don't know if he will get back to that or not. I think he showed a few good singes in the last 2 games before he got hurt again last year so that gives me some hope.

That is a big problem for Rubio but he is far form a max player. He is not even a top 10 PG. If he is worth the max then some one like james and KD are worth like 50 million.

To me there are only three superstars in the league (four if Derrick Rose shows that he's back to where he was pre-injury, 5 if Paul George was healthy), LeBron, KD, and CP3. Everyone else is either not quite that (Curry, Dwight, Melo, Aldridge, Griffin, etc.) , or they're just past their prime (Kobe, Wade, Duncan, Garnett, etc.). But I don't think you need a superstar to win a ring. You need stars, plural, but not necessarily a superstar. The Spurs don't have a superstar (though Kawhi could become one in the future, you never know), they have stars and an insanely deep and well put together roster underneath the greatest coach of this generation and one of the 4 greatest coaches ever if not the greatest coach ever.

James and KD are worth 50 million, if not more. They just can't be paid that much because of salary limits and the cap.

Yeah the spurs have the most complete team in the NBA in a long time and I think kawhi is going to be an all star for sure and maybe superstar. Yeah I would have pop has the second best coach behind only phil and I agree about rose. I think he was on his way there before the injure but I think Cury is already good and has a high up side.

You also have to consider that the max for him right now is like $15-18 million (can't remember the exact number, whereas a couple years from now, LeBron will be making like $33 million.

                          I've got a new one.

A healthy Kobe Bryant is the best shooting guard in the league and it isn't close.

edit: and I'm a Celtics fan, so this isn't Laker bias or anything, just my opinion.

I don't think that Is crazy with the way wade is looking who knows what he has left and harden is not has good of a defender has kobe can be. While kobe is not in his prim in his last season of being heatly he was still a much better defender then harden.
