Re: The Unpopular Opinion thread
I feel like if the "Thuggets" teams from like 07 (?) or so with Melo, JR, KMart, Nene, Birdman, Iverson/Billups etc were more recent they'd of gotten sooooo much more love. Team was really, really talented. Also would of been NBA blogosphere fodder constantly which would of raised their profile a ton. My favorite "forgotten team" of the last decade.Comment

Re: The Unpopular Opinion thread
Oh were doing this?
Bumping this thread to say...
Curry/Thompson/Iggy/Dray/Bogut is the best 5 man unit in the NBA.
Provides shooting, defense, passing, and speed. Good enough rebounding not to get killed there, and only big issue is an elite post scorer vs. Dray, but even then don't think that's a huge deal at all.

Re: The Unpopular Opinion thread
I would say Duncan/TP/Manu at their peak was comparable to Ray/PP/KG in 2008.
After that year Ray started falling off some, especially defensively. And KG started to break down with injuries.
But that 2008 squad when they first came together and won it all, I would put that group up with any other big 3.
I would bring Kobe/Pau/Odom into the conversation with these other groups as well. Odom didn't have the numbers and wasn't a star caliber player, but his versatility was a big plus for LAL. Especially as a playmaker since Kobe simply wasn't one. Pau was arguably the most well rounded big in the league at the time, and was a huge reason they beat out Dwight and KG. And Kobe still around his "prime" level.

Re: The Unpopular Opinion thread
The Eastern Conference is making a great case for ditching East/West Playoffs
lol I couldn't resist, that's totally appropriate for this thread.
But for real though:
- Kobe and Shaq could have been the greatest duo ever. They were dominant in their last 2 Championship runs in the playoffs: 15-1, 15-4.
- The 2004-05 Phoenix Suns would have won the title if Joe Johnson never got hurt and the small-ball era would have started much sooner. I know they had their defensive shortcomings but that team was special. Also, 04-05 Suns > 06-07 Suns.
- Scottie Pippen doesn't get nearly enough credit for how great he was despite being a top 50 player. Bulls only had a 2 game drop off in regular season wins despite losing MJ in 93-94. At the same time though a better question now would be if they re-did the top 50 today, would he still be in it?Comment
