Re: Starting at PF for the Cavs...

The logic in signing Vin Baker is a business move -- to appease LeBron James' agent Aaron Goodwin -- making low-risk moves to help in the long run. Even if Baker doesn't pan out, they'd only have him for one year and have strengthened their relationship with Goodwin. I predict Lee Nailon re-signing and wind up starting at PF for the bulk of the season. Either way, this move is only temporary. Shareef Abdur-Rahim is a free agent next summer and I see him wearing wine and gold.
After more than eight years on here, I finally figured out how to edit my time zone!

Now starting at PF for the Cavs is Drew Gooden. I like that a lot better than Vin Baker, although if anyone could help him out, it would be Paul Silas who is a recovering alcoholic himself.

Gooden as the starter is no lock...If he doesn't step up his defensive intensity, he'll sit on Silas' bench. Don't be surprised if Silas favors Hunter for his D over Gooden.

Steven Hunter won't even be on the Cavs roster. Paxson didn't even talk about him at the press conference. He was only thrown in to make the salaries work for the trade. Steven Hunter was Orlando's Diop. He will be traded.

I think they may just waive him

They are going to buy him out for $1 million. Not bad, he gets thrown in to make the trade work and then pockets $1 million and will still get a chance to be a FA and sign with someone. I wish the Magic would have just signed me to the contract and traded me to the Cavs and then they bought me out for $1 million!!

Silas said in a radio interview that he's very, VERY excited about Drew Gooden after having a 2 hour pow-wow with the kid. He siad that he made it clear that the Drew has a clean slate here, and would be held accountable for his D, but he said Gooden seems to have a great attitude, and with a couple of the tricks of the trade that he tought Magloire and Boozer, Gooden can be a top rebounder.

I had doubts about Gooden, but he's gotten a ringing endorsement from the coach.

He was destined for failure playing under Johnny Davis and the Magic.
