    Iverson calls out Malone

excerpt from Iverson after team USA's practice:

On his own championship prospects at age 29, after eight seasons in the league and with the rebuilding Sixers:

"I definitely feel like it's coming. And I don't want a championship where I'm 35, 40 years old, take a pay cut and go play for the team that everybody in the media is saying is gonna win it. I don't want it that way. I don't want that championship. I want the championship where I'm the leader on the team. I don't have to be the facial figure of the team. I honestly want to play with another All-Star or that type of player, but ... I want it in Philadelphia, simple as that. All the stuff that I've been through, that place turned me from a young man to a grown man, and I'm not talking about all the good things."

Don't forget Allen Iverson is hitting Gary Payton with that quote too.

Reggie Miller did it last year too when he signed his extension.

Well Reggie's situation is a bit different then Payton and Malone as the Pacers are still a contending team that has a legit chance of going to the Finals. I'm sure AI would have different thoughts if he was actually in that age and hasn't come close to winning a championship again.

yeah, KD, I remember that. KArl even fired back

Sportman, Reggie had chances to leave two other times, in 2000 the Lakers offered Reggie a contract, Reggie is...........loyal to his franchise.

With that said, it wasnt a hard decision with the team they were going to have (when he signed his contract)

I don't think its a big deal with wat AI said......a lot of people felt that way when GP and Karl Malone went to the Lakers, just that nobody really said it.........some people said it, but i a nice way..........AI just spoke about how he feels about the situation, he obviously has a point, but i still don't blame Karl for goin to the Lakers, but like i said, its just AI's opinion on the situation

Karl Malone at 40 was ENTITLED to chase a ring. He'd earnt the right to play a smaller role.

Gary Payton was the dissapointment IMO. A HOF PG, franchise player, still near the top of his game.............and he was prepared to bascially be the 4th man and hardly contribute. That was just wrong.
