Re: Possible Draft Solution...
I still think an age limit of at least 20 would be better. I would make it where all players who's 20th birthday is on the day of the draft or before that would be eligable. Players who are born after that would have to wait until next years draft. This way you still would get a few one and dones but the amount would be under control. And that should be the main focus of the rule to control the amount of underclassmen in the draft.Comment

Picks 1-30 Guaranteed Money- Based on Pick Position and Years of College...
A #1 pick with 4 years college experience would get more money than a #1 pick with one year college.
2nd Round Developmental (1st year guaranteed at minumum) Team option there after.
18 years old or having graduated with class for the year of the current draft.
Team has option of signing player to the team or keeping him in the developmental league for 3/4 of the first year with said player being given a guaranteed tryout with the team at that time.
Player counts as a roster spot the entire year.
Rights to said player can be traded, and if the player is not picked up by the team at 3/4 season the player remains on the roster of the team, but becomes a free agent at years end.
If picked up by the team, the player is automatically given a partially guaranteed contract for the next year, and would be eligible for an extension at a rate dictated by the average salary of players with similar experience.
If allowed to become a free agent, the player would have all of the rights and privileges of a conventional free agent.
Luckily, the NFL won its case, so a precident has been set. Sure this rule would keep out people that are ready like Lebron, but it would also keep the junk out like Chandler and that Diop guy.Comment

Re: Possible Draft Solution...
I hate it when real life life creeps into the picture. Honestly, it's the GMs that are drafting these guys. Always afraid that someone else will pick up the next Jordan.
Sad thing is, by the time, the next Jordan becomes Jordan, they will be out of a job.Comment

Re: Possible Draft Solution...
The draft pay scale is not the problem!! I wish the NBA would take away the guarantee contracts. I bet we get better overall play then if guys knew they could get cut and not get paid!!Comment

Re: Possible Draft Solution...
I remember reading something where one sugguestion was making only rookie contracts non guaranteed. Both first and second round picks. Then, after the rookie contract is up a player would get a guaranteed one. This would certainly make rookies earn their keep, but I doubt the Player's Union would agree to it.Comment
