    Dream Dunk Contest

My friends and I were chatting the other day about the dunk contest and how they haven't been too great since the one with Carter in it. Anyway, we were talking and were saying that what if we could only pick 4 dunkers from the ones that are playing now, who would you choose?

I said: Kobe, Carter, T-Mac, and J-Rich. Who would you guys choose?

And while we're at it...who would you pick if you could choose people from the past and now...?

im sorry...but Carter is in a league of his own....only peeps i see close is T-mac and maybe kobe...yall givin J. Rich TOO much credit...duke cant jump off one leg very good and that seriously limits the amount of dunks he can do...yall dont remember when he couldnt even take off right when trying to dunk from the freethrow line? Thats cuz he's only a jumper when jumpin off of 2 feet...carter, kobe, and T mac can jump off 1 or 2 and do some amazing sh!t

Watch out for David Lee and James White from Florida... those two cats were the finalists in the high school dunk contest, and they threw down some sick dunks. They will be serious conteders for the dunk crown if and when they turn pro.

                found some links:

                David Lee dunks

                James White dunks

I think in the final, White took off from the free throw line and dunked it with TWO hands... it was nuts... these clips don't do them justice, but you get the idea.

kobe and carter arent strong off of 2 feet?!?!?! Are you crazy?!?!? If a man can jump off 2 feet...CATCH a oop THEN put it through his legs and dunk...THATS hops off of 2 feet. Doin a reverse 360...THATS hops off of 2 feet...u my friend...crazayyyy...oh and i guess u didnt see in that mcdonalds highschool game a while ago when somebody threw carter a alley from d@Mn near the arc and carter caught it...THEN did a windmill and dunked it....IN the middle of the game.....hmmmm....J. rich is NOT fawkin with carter in any way shape or form, lol...maybe kobe....but not carter..im sorry

nah im talking staright up....without a running start....just one step and jump....i dont remember saying carter has no hops off 2 feet...i said kobe and t-mac both of them need a good start too do something spectacular. kobe is over rated as this great dunker he hasnt shown anything new. carter and j-rich have. when u do a windmill dunk of of an offensive rebound standing under the rim and jumping straight up with no momentum...thats talent....when u do the statue of liberty in a game thats talent....kobe just does reverse and one-handers. he did one crazy dunk to win the dunk title. under the legs. but nowadays who cant do that. j-rich and carter are in a class of their own. ive seen alot of warriors games and he has the same ability as carter. carter had a running start in the mcdonalds game windmill dunk..i have the tape....

                      Re: Dream Dunk Contest

I think Jason Richardson gets WAY too much credit for being a 'great' dunker. He won a dunk contest, but only because no one else was in it. I like the last dunk he did in the finals, but it still wasn't anything mind bending.

What is this talk of going straight up. Everyone has to get some momentum going to do their best dunks.

McGrady is Long and Lanky which helps with his dunks.

VC is definitely better taking off of 2 feet than one foot. Not that he can't do a good dunk off of one, but his one foot take offs just aren't as good as hid 2 foot take offs.

I think this is what made Jordan so unique as a dunker. He was excellent either way. Obviously he was good with the one foot take off(free throw line dunk with the double clutch).
But, he was also an awesome 2 foot jumper as well.

Before this is read, realize that I am a great admirer of what Vince Carter is capable of:

Everyone always talks about Vince putting his arm in the basket when he was in the dunk contest. However, in '88 Jordan jumped from one side of the lane, had to duck his head out of the way of the rim and dunked on the other side with his arm curled down into the basket.

yall sleepin on j-rich because you guys havent had the chance to see him play much. ive seen almost every warriors game after he won the dunk contest. i slept on him too until i saw him play in games. when u can stand under the rim go up get the off rebound and do a windmill put back dunk without taking a step. thats crazzzzzzzyyyyyy. he has alot of talent he's just on a crappy team. hes another tmac type....needs to be on another team to get his shyne on. do not sleep until u see him play alot...yall saw the rookie game right...he plays like that every game.

my bad jumpoff...i thought u put carter in the mix..i was gonna go crazy, lol..in my eyes....theres only one person thats a bettah dunker than jordan jordan was...and that's CARTER...yes i said it...look at his highlight reels...in his short amount of time in the nba..he has just as many amazing dunks as jordan...if not more spectaculur...as much as i love jordan and he IS the best b-ball player ever...and even tho he has done some amazing sh!t...i dont think he can catch a alley from the arc and windmill it THEN dunk it...not in his prime and certainly not now...

                            1. Carter
                            2. Jordan
                            3. Dominique wilkins

...thats how i see it...hopefully carter can get in the slam dunk contest this year and shut some of you up...and maybe try the 2 hand from the freethrow line again...he's the only cat that's 6'7" thats capable of doing this...only cat i seen do it was this highschool cat...i forget his name...but he is 6'9" with long arms..prllly the same dude duke up top mentioned

Look, I'm not 'sleepin' on 'J-Rich'.

I'm sure he's a fine basketball player. You're right, I don't get a chance to see him play a full game.

However, I do catch sports center. If there are note worthy plays happening, they will be on the evening highlights. Yes, he is a spectacular athelete, but IMHO I don't believe he is in the same league as Jordan, Dominique, and Carter.
