Re: Western Conference Playoffs - 1st Round Discussion Thread

I have little faith in the Clippers to win many playoff games because they seriously lack depth and are going to heavily rely on production nightly from JJ/Crawford to have more than just a couple options offensively..

But San Antonio is a somewhat intriguing match up. That might be the one team that they could exploit some weaknesses from. Parker isn't staying with CP3, Jordan should dominate the glass, the spots Kawhi would normally "shut down" aren't big factors for the Clippers anyways. Blake might be hard for Duncan and co to stay in front of. I'm hoping for a good series, though faith in the Clippers is slim.

Also ready to see this Warriors team in the playoffs.. I really don't feel they've gotten their due/credit as a team this year. (though Curry has definitely gotten more than enough individually)..

I haven't watched many teams with this much depth that have a top of the league offense and defense, as well as two possible DPOY candidates, 6th man of the year candidate, and two guys who at anytime can drop 40. Not many holes in this group.

We'll see if the "living by the jump shot" theme continues to be their Achilles heel under Kerr. I'm hoping they make a big push this year and some big time playoff moments.

Also ready to see that freak Anthony Davis make his playoff debut. And see if Eric Gordon is ready to step up, he's looked the best he has in awhile here recently.

Jordan hasn't dominated anybody's glass in the playoffs. He actually gets boxed out alot when the game slows

Didn't he average like 13 a game last year? Idk I just don't have a lot of faith in Splitter keeping him off the glass.

Just checked, his rebounds against the Spurs this year is 13, 11, 19, 18.

As good as the Western conference is there is a lack of solid athletic bigs.. He gives them similar problems Dwight has the past 2-3 years.

Pop can easily just sick Kawhi on CP3, and hide Parker on Barnes/along with the rest of the ****ty wings the clippers have.

I don't find this matchup intriguing at all, I fully expect SA to wipe the floor with those guys.

Maybe, I didn't have any faith in the Clippers winning a series coming into the playoffs.. And wouldn't at all be surprised if the Spurs swept them.

I just think out of all the teams out West the Spurs are the one team that the Clippers could potentially exploit some weaknesses against.

The Clippers have never made it past the second round of the playoffs in their 45 years of existence, including the last three seasons with the core of Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan.

The Clippers would of matched up better against Portland with their lack of depth and key guys banged up.

I doubt they'll give SA any problems whatsoever, with that coach, the chemistry of those old guys and that system, lights out for LA. I do have them stealing a game somehow someway but that's about it.

I'll be surprised if this one isn't over in under 5 games but we'll see.

They didn't play the Grizz last year. Haven't met them in the playoffs since Doc was hired.. He turned Jordan from worthless to arguably the league's best rebounder and shot blocker.

Went from averaging 8 and 7 in a little over 24 minutes a night to 10, 14, on about 36 minutes a night and leading the league in FG% and then about 12 and 15 at 34 minutes a night again leading the league in FG%.... He literally went from a worthless waste of athleticism to arguably the best in the league at what he does.

They may get blown out by 20 in 4 straight games.. But Splitter isn't keeping that dude off the glass.

Lopez and Kaman would do a better job keeping him off the glass than Splitter/Baynes IMO.. Aldridge is a better matchup against Blake as well.

I think the Clippers would likely lose in the first round to anyone outside of New Orleans. But I do think they will have areas that trouble San Antonio even if the Spurs win in 4.. I'm not picking them to steal the series or anything.

They spilt the regular season, and I believe 3 of the games were with in 5 or so points. The other the Clipps took by 20. Not that the regular season means anything though.

It sucks the Spurs weren't able to secure a top 4 seed. It's a shame to play so well and then only get a #6 seed. I haven't seen as many games this year since I've been pretty busy, unfortunately, but I'll watch every playoff game, of course. I think SAS has a pretty good shot at beating LAC, but without HCA it is going to be tough.

I honestly think the Spurs have a halfway decent chance at repeating this year. It isn't likely or anything (far from it), but it's definitely possible, which would be crazy as a #6 seed.

I see Deandre Jorden is shooting FTs at a 40% clip this season.

I guess Parker can be hid on Barnes with Green taking Redick and Kawhi taking CP3, though I wouldn't be surprised to see Green take CP3. We'll see.
