Re: Western Conference Playoffs - 1st Round Discussion Thread
While he's not a guy I'm losing sleep over, I wouldn't mind him coming off the bench. I mean jesus, we've had to watch the Clippers bench for 5 games now, so you can definitely do worse lol
I think where he most improved was on the defensive end. He was a nice piece to have coming in with that second unit who could defend on the perimeter. Something Dallas really lacked this year.
He had his moments on offense but nothing that I'd be particularly upset about losing. He's a prototypical slashing forward/guard. Not very consistent from mid range and outward, but can work off the ball and get to the rim.
If the Mavs still had Jae Crowder and Brandan Wright (who I would love to see us try to resign in the offseason as well), I wouldn't lose much sleep over Aminu, but as it stands he's the only player we had after the All-Star break that could instill real energy, tempo and defense into the team when he came in.NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers

Late to reply but I think some of you misunderstood my point about Chris Paul.
Not saying he deserves heat. I don't think any one player does.
Just pointing out he's been left out by the people that care about that sort of thing and been blameless. The man is on commercials talking about his greatness.
You don't see that for certain superstars that those fans like to blame as not truly talented because of their team's failure.
Nothing more than that. Nothing less.

I think it's because people get so butthurt if you mention any player other than Duncan with the other greats before them.
If someone were to have the opinion that Paul was a better all around point guard than say Magic or Isaiah you'd have people quick to pop off that he continually fails to win a title.
Nobody likes when Kobe, T-Mac, Durant are mentioned with the best scorers ever, or LeBron with the best all around ever.. Duncan gets the slide for being most recognized as the top PF, and it helps that Karl and Chuck never won, and McHale wasn't the best on his team.
Also guys who lead the team in scoring usually take the blunt of the blame. Chris usually isn't that guy, and even when he is, scoring isn't really what personifies him.

Re: Western Conference Playoffs - 1st Round Discussion Thread
So we're just going to ignore the glaring difference between the "Chris Paul gets a pass" talk and the supposed guys mentioned that get killed?
Generally nobody ever picked Chris Paul and the Hornets to win any titles or win the west or even go deep into the west because those Hornet teams were pretty much crap for the most part outside of the odd year here or there. LeBron is different simply because of ESPN slurping that dude from high school airing his games so he was naturally going to be under a microscope. But a few of those Melo Nuggets teams and since forcing his way to New York and getting into the ****ty eastern conference? T-Mac's Magic teams had all kinds of expectations especially considering him leaving Toronto to be THE GUY. Then to go to Houston with another hype machine player in Yao and to have some really good teams there? Of course he's going to get criticized for not living up to the expectations of those teams.
I'm not going to say I exactly agree with everything, but I certainly understand it. Sitting here now, pretending like anybody, anywhere outside of New Orleans had grand expectations of those Hornet teams to do anything of note in the west is ridiculous.Comment

See thats the problem. Tmac went to ORL to go home, to play behind Grant freaking Hill and possibly Tim Duncan.
He just ended up in that position because Hill never played due to injury and Duncan stayed in SAS.
Those teams were deplorable. Jeryl Sasser (surprise a Doc Rivers pick), Reece Gaines (another Doc pick) Gordon Giricek, Old fat Kemp and old man Ewing? What exactly were they going to accomplish again?
HOU switched to Morey a year after he got there and had a ton of geezer players Mutumbo, Charlie Ward, Bobby Sura, bums like Mo Taylor and Luther Head.... They faced a very tough Utah team 2 years in a row and for the most part
that guy was always on underdog teams... expectations didnt actually meet what the talent really was on the court.
Didn't matter he always got clowned as if they were supposed to do some big thingsComment

Meh T-Mac's Orlando teams were pretty garbage King. Don't know when they ever really had expectations to do anything once is was obvious Hill wasn't going to be healthy enough to contribute.
I just think it's odd we are even having the "Paul keeps getting a pass talk" when we've had this talk during the playoffs every year for the past 3 years now lol.. It's not like it's never brought up. If it keeps getting brought up he's obviously not really getting a pass.

I thought Tmacs Rockets were legit title contenders when they had Yao, Artest, Battier and a young Aaron Brooks. They had a squad. Injuries just robbed them of what could've been further success.Acts 2:38- Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.Comment

Plus I think he and Yao were only healthy together for like 2 playoff series. Their benches on those teams was absolutely awful ( worse than Clippers awful ) and their first stint together they were the only two starters who could even get double figures..
He's a lot like LeBron in Cleveland, any expectation he had was simply because he was a stud.. The teams he lost to were always the better team, they were supposed to lose.. Those two just took the blame because they were the top dog from either team. Which is a damn hard way to try and win 4 straight 7 game series.
