Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
I gotta say, The East is really bad, but last year was all time bad due to injury and I don't see that happening again. You have a guaranteed top 7 imo:
Cleveland
Chicago
Miami
Washington
Atlanta
Toronto
Milwaukee
After that, it's pretty much a "who sucks the least" for the 8th spot. Right now i'd say it's a 6 team race between Boston, Indiana, Detroit, Charlotte, Brooklyn, and New York.
Detroit "appears" to be the most talented of the bunch, but I have no idea how big of a loss Moose was for them yet or if it was great for them. I also have no idea how Reggie Jackson will play and if Brandon Jennings will come back decent.
Charlotte is probably the second most talented to me and if they still healthy I can definitely see them in the playoffs. I really want to see how the stretch 4 revolution they have going on there turns out, but they seem to have enough shooting surrounding Big Al now. If MKG could ever become a decent threat offensively they'll take the next step.
Indiana, Boston, Brooklyn and New York all seem like they are in the same boat. Brooklyn should be better but we know they won't be, also I'm interested to see if someone will actually try to trade for Joe Johnson. New York is basically Melo or bust. They don't have much in the way of threats besides Melo, but they have a nice core to build on there. Boston is so well coached you can never count them out, but I'm just not seeing them sneak up on anyone anymore and I don't see the talent there to overcome the healthier teams that were out this year (like Miami). Indiana is the weirdest of the bunch because before I probably would've said they were an easy playoff team, but now it's basically a returning PG, Monta, and rookie Miles Turner surrounded by scraps. Maybe with a signing or two they'll look better, but right now I don't think they can overcome the youth they have to rely on right now.Comment

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Honestly just having those 6 teams hopefully playing decent ball and fighting for that 8th spot is pretty solid. Is it as good as the West, definitely not. But a few years ago if you were to say teams of that caliber were fighting for an 8th seed you would think the conference was a juggernaut. The West just so happens to be at an all time high in terms of quality depth, IMO.
The league has a ridiculous amount of talent right now. You keep wondering when it will start to drop off again, but these guys are all so young it's really a joy to watch. I know there are lots of things that some people don't particularly like about "today's game" and that's fine, but for me it's really hard not to enjoy the league right now. There is just so much talent, and so many teams with quality depth.

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
I totally agree. Also, as much as people complain about the one and done rule it has actually made the league better and it seems there is a wave of new talent pretty much every year now. Every time a draft comes around the top guys all have a bit of star power before they are even drafted thanks to the internet age. I'm also of the mindset that the league will actually have an increased pipeline of athletes with parents not wanting their kids playing football or any other sport and kids naturally gravitating towards it(basketball players salaries are now reaching baseball levels).
They are in a great spot. I honestly think if the league wanted to go next level once every team had a D-League affiliate, they could invest more money into it to up the salaries and possibly get the games on national TV(Finals games were on ESPN) as to entice high school kids to do their one year there in the minor league system before being drafted. It'd allow them full access to scouting the player and let them get exposed to the pro coaching and training to become even better players before being drafted.Comment

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
The East is still garbage outside of 2-3 teams.
Ya'll do this every offseason, hype up the East by saying "Oh man, there's a bunch of solid teams outside of the top 3-4" but then as usual everyone after that is either average or below average or just trash for various reasons.
Time to accept the East for what is and what it has always been for the last 10+ years.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Good. If they want Taj, I'll drive his *** to the Air Canada Centre and drop him off myself, I don't even care if anybody is there to let him in when we get there.
Man one and dones have nothing to do with that. Even if they were still letting in high school players, it'd be the same results.OSHA Inspector for the NBA.Comment

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
It's really all they need right now....
This is first offseason maybe ever in franchise history that Raptors are making abunch of moves which isn't making the team worse. Can't blame me for getting excited about all the possibilities for the team.Comment

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
The Big Banger is a rugged, mechanical, rebounding 5 that can sprinkle in some offense here and there. He isn't much of a defensive presence but is a hard worker and is tough as nails. Will give y'all good minutes behind Drummond and can start in a pinch. He does lack good conditioning, he gets winded quickly, and won't block a ton of shots.

My guess is, since SVG couldn't add the big ticket wing, he decided to fill out the bench.Comment

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
I like Taj and think he is a really good player, but this past postseason just further highlighted a problem that he has that pretty much isn't going away. Taj seems to think he's a higher tiered player than he is. He spends entirely too much time bitching about fouls and not getting back on defense or extending maximum effort. When we need Taj the most, he's taken himself out of the game by letting any and everything get in his head. The refs were still wrong to throw him out of that Cavs game, but Taj once again put himself in a bad position in the first place with his ****ty attitude on the court. Frankly, his talent doesn't outweigh those kind of bonehead decisions that he has consistently made over the years. TK is all in here worried about getting rid of Derrick Rose and outside of Kirk Hinrich, Taj is the first dude on the list of people that need to go. He's run his course here as far as I'm concerned, especially if Portis works out like we want.Comment
