Yeah we'd have to sign West for be vets min....were not even in the clear to sign Aldridge until we work some stuff out....

If it wasn't for this cap increase this would definitely be a gigantic over pay. That's almost the max for that dude.

Okay but you can say this about any team that has the contracts to work it. It's out there because Cleveland can make it happen and (apparently) is willing to pay a huge luxury tax bill. My understanding is dumping JJ saves you big time $$ this year on the luxury tax bill because Andy's is for $10 mil and Haywood's $10 mil gets shredded, so you instantly save $10 mil in cap space with that, which ends up as a huge savings. Rumor has it too that Andy's contract may not be guaranteed beyond this year. Not sure about that one but I'll have to investigate further.

But we're not getting cap space though in the sense that it gives us more money to spend.

We're doing this to avoid paying the repeater tax, which actually hurts MORE than just paying luxury tax. And a year from now, Gilbert will be doing the same thing.

If you wanna believe this rumor and that it came from Cleveland, then be my guest. But knowing how this team operates, I'd bet a lot of money that it came from Brooklyn's end mainly because there really aren't any takers for Deron or Joe's contract despite the fact it's an expiring.

Good signing getting Joseph. Even if he wasn't from Canada, it'd still have been another nice pickup for Raptors, so the whole being from Toronto stuff is just a bonus. Joseph and Wright both PGs who can play SG as well. Ross won't be playing SF with Carroll/Johnson there, so it sounds now like he's the odd man out.

Are the raptors still shopping Derozan?? And would they trade ross? I though pretty highly of him until he did nothing last 2 playoff series

No issues with that contract at all especially when it looking at it when the cap rises over the next few years.

Now if he had gotten the same deal that Dragic got(don't think he's a max contract player but because of what they gave up for him, the team had no choice but to pay him the max)then it would probably bother me slightly.

I will say that if there was a time for GMs to overpay FAs, now would be time to do it with the cap going up and most of these contracts looking like steals or not as bad on the surface in a year or two.

His shot chart is absolutely atrocious. 16mil a year for a slightly above average PG is not good.

Still? Don't think Raptors will even bother trading DeRozan unless it's a sign and trade next offseason. As ridiculous as paying him max next season sounds, looking around at all the other max deals we've seen just this offseason alone, I'm willing to bet he won't be the only guy signing a max deal next offseason who most people will think he doesn't deserve it.

And really, that might just be the trend in the league. Getting an above average starting player will cost close to,if not the max amount.

Ross does have potential to be a good player,but consistency has just been his major issue. One game he could go on a tear and get 20-30 points,next game he'll shoot 4 for 15. I think moving him back to SG will benefit him alot since he was put out of position at SF last season,but even then,he's non existent in the playoffs,and regular season wise hasn't been so great either. Great 3pt shooter and all,but aside from that,rest of his game is below average.

Even though he won't be traded there, I think Ross on a team like Hawks,Spurs,Clippers,Warriors could do real good. Teams that move the ball around alot and takes alot of 3 pointers. That's more like the type of system he needs to be in.
