and yet their a game away from facing a banged up Cavs team at home in the ECF. But if they make the Finals they still won't be a title contender and they will have only gotten there because the East is weak and they got favorable draws.

I'm not going to feel bad because they're riding LeBron's coattails deep into the playoffs. Good for them, I'm legitimately happy for them, but no need to throw shade at the Knicks. JR is where he should be, a role player who's 4th on the team in FGA, not second as he was in NY.
Yea, these guys are the same guys they've always been. Shump's a nice player but he wasn't going to be in NY next year anyway. JR still takes dumb shots, is still streaky, and still an idiot. But in the role he's helping.

Just because it worked out great for Cleveland doesn't mean it didn't make sense for the Knicks.

They don't need to make the WCF.. All they need is one series against a West team in the finals.. What's with all your conference swapping nonsense... For all we know Golden State might have been a 4 seed in the East.. Unlikely sure but you're working with hypotheticals here acting like it's factual information.

Yes. Because the East is very weak. Definitely don't see he Hawks winning or going to the NBA finals.

They beat the Nets in 6 and might beat the Wizards. And then will possibly play a beat up Cavs team who will most likely beat them even thought I would be rooting for ATL.

Like I said last night. I'm done talking with you about sports after what you said. And what I explained to you.

            The Clippers or Rockets?

            ABSOLULTELY

I give the Clippers credit for ousting the Spurs (although they royally screwed the Spurs with that false horn before the last play, classic HCA move) but NO team should be afraid of a team with no bench and their facilitator playing on a bad hammy. CP3 is getting a pass because one of the premier on-ball defending PGs is hurt.

The Rockets are an enigma. They've looked terrible at times this series and yet have found a way to go home for Game 7. Their still stagnant on offense and D12 isn't the same player he was.

They match up favorably with GSW and their stretch bigs would be tough for Memphis's bigs to come out and guard. Horford is strong enough to hold Gasol, who let's be honest, hasn't looked good this playoffs. He's shooting ~ 40% from the field this playoffs.

The Hawks won't sweep anyone but neither will any of the remaining teams in the Playoffs.

You can still find some decent lower level tickets for a good price.

Scooped up some seats behind the basket on the Wizards' side for $90 each. Just hate that it's a 7:00pm start though meaning I won't get there til about 7:30 because of that DC Traffic, which goes up on another level on Fridays.

I definitely don't see Atlanta beating the Clippers. I could see Clippers winning that in 5 or most likely 6. And I believe the Clips does have somewhat of a bench. Austin Rivers is having a heck of a series and if he maintains that confidence could be a difference maker off the bench. You have Crawford who is streaky, but can be instant offense. I am very disappointed in Spencer Hawes though. I thought he would be a very good piece for the Clippers and a nice floor spacer. I think the Clips would make easy work of the Hawks.

D12 is still balling to me and is doing so against maybe the best defender in the NBA. Horford is no slouch, but I don't see Horford containing Howard. He would give the Hawks fits. I could see the Rockets letting the Hawks win two games, but I think Harden wouldn't be playing as bad against the Hawks like he is against the Clippers. They have been his kryptonite all season though.

I don't think the Hawks have no shot against the Warriors and I was thinking they would give the Grizz the toughest chance out of those listed, but still can't say I could see the Hawks beating a lot of those teams. Even the teams that's eliminated like Spurs, Blazers, I don't see them beating. And I think the Pelicans would have pulled at least 2 games on them.

Rivers is having a good series but he's matched up with Prigioni more often than not. He's not getting to the rim nearly as often with Schroder on him nor can he slouch off on D. Bud has been playing with Teague & Schroder at times, alternating P&R with them. The Clippers ain't beating anybody in the playoffs in 5/6 games. They're just too weak at too many areas to do so (mainly the swing spots and their bench). Crawford isn't the same Jamal since the calf injury.

They don't have to beat any eliminated teams though so I don't even know why you bring them up. I highly doubt this currently constructed Cavs team could beat the Spurs and the Blazers fell apart. They def weren't beating the Hawks. When they can't win in one of the better HCA's in the league you know they are doomed.

I don't have much faith in Dwight Howard as he is now, not nearly as explosive.

Even if the Clippers did win it in 6... How does that make the Hawks "not contenders".. Losing in the finals in a game 6 lol

Still can't believe this team rolled over like that. A Tom Thibodeau team went down because of a complete failure on defense and then quit. Unbelievable.

I've also seen a lot of Harden on him, but that kind of buffers your point about Schroeder based on what a lot of people think of Hardens defense lol. I don't think Rivers would go off like he did in this series again because he's been magical at times. I think he should have stayed in the game last night instead of being replaced by Barnes or a struggling Crawford. But I think he definitely could contribute off the bench. I think they could beat teams in the East in 5-6 games. Lets use the Hawks playoff opponents. The Nets? I could see the Clips sweeping or even beating them in 5. They definitely wouldn't have had success like they did against the Hawks. Wizards? More easy work for them. Nobody would be picking against the Clippers against those teams. I think majority of people would have the Clips coming out of the East. I know I would.

You were missing my point. I bring them up because I said if the Hawks were in the West. I didn't say if the Hawks were in the Playoffs starting today. I am saying if they began in the West, who would you have them beating besides the Pelicans? That was my question. Exactly. My point from the beginning was mainly about Cleveland being in a weak conference. And I do. He's not and I don't think ever will be Orlando Dwight, but look what he's doing to the Clippers with Deandre on that team. I wouldn't say he's playing bad. He looks like the best player on that team with Harden being the usual Playoff Harden.

I think "contender" has much of a varied meaning across the NBA fanbase as "superstar" does. You can have endless debates over this stuff.

Do I think Atlanta CAN win the NBA title this year? No, I don't, mostly because they lack the traits of what history tells us are required to win a championship. Does that mean if they make it to the Finals and lose in five that they weren't contenders? No idea, I guess it's up to interpretation.

I guess I just don't agree with your assessment of the Clippers. In a league dominated by swingmen and PGs they're weak & injured in those 2 areas. I also don't trust Doc despite his runs with the Celtics. I do love what BG has transformed into. He looks hungry out there.

I'll bow out now because it's worthless debating "Ifs" that will never happen. All we have to go on is how the Hawks fared vs the West this year in the regular season. I'll give you the "it's the regular season" aspect but it's the only barometer we have since they can only match up with 1 team from the West in the Playoffs.
