We do know he has done it multiple times, and lied about it, and admitted it all after the fact when he was charged for a crime.

Now mistakes you can't knock a man for, but a continual process.. why not just leave Vansessa? I'm not knocking him for succumbing, but the entire case thing is disturbing to me.

On top of that people made every prejudgement about the girl and called her every name in the book, and doing exactly what you say people are doing to him, yet he made a mistake put yourself in his shoes, but what about the girl?

This is pathetic, men cheat on women, women cheat on men, look at the divorce rate. You guys hiding behind your anonymity sound like tools. Who cares if Kobe lied to his wife, are we going to create a thread for every sport and talk about the athletes that chase women? Is it that far from the realm of possibility for any of you to cheat? And dont spin this cheating on your girlfriend as no big deal, but cheating on your wife is the ultimate sin.

Celebrities get married over and over, do you stop seeing their movies, comic acts, tv shows, sporting events everytime they break a vow? If so, I got news for you, the very people you hang out with, and work with got their own skeletons in their closets. I doubt any of you are as judgemental in your day to day.

I am very judgemental, especially when there is a child involved. I wouldn't care if he's Kobe or Bean the Krystal burger flipper. Scum is scum. I'll still watch him play, but he's scum.

Re: Kobe admitted to cheating .....

This is more about the case than cheating though. Cheating was just apart of it.
I have also expressed (enough times) that I think both parties emerged from that room with totally different perspectives of what happened in there.

*Timeframe was short. There was little/no foreplay.

*Kobe held her down by her neck and bent her over. Nothing wrong with the position, but if rushed, and if not what she wanted, thats a very difficult position to fight someone off from. Add to that anything she said wouldn't be discernable.

*Torn body parts. I don't know why anyone would WANT to continue with inch long tears. Regardless if they are battering ram type injuries or not, why would she wish to continue? Blood substantiate that those injuries were caused by Kobe, or at least were present at the time (or before) of the incident.

By the time she left that room, she was in pain, felt slighted and probably wronged. What that blew up into is where we are. But in most regards, I don't think she was a willing participant for the totality of the incident.

                Quote:
                • When he was questioned by two police officers in the parking lot of the Lodge and Spa at Cordillera in the early morning of July 2, 2003, Bryant, after first denying an encounter took place, admitted to "holding her around her neck from behind" and graphically described a series of sex acts he engaged in with his accuser.

So he lied to police about the encounter and admits to holding her neck from behind (hard enough to leave a bruise)

Quote:• As the officers and Bryant made small talk while walking to his room, Bryant told them he would pay his accuser to make the charges go away because "I'm in the worst f------ situation."

At least he has likely kept his word on this. Except he lied when he said he would never consider this.

                Quote:
                • During the interview Bryant told police about "a girl in Virginia named 'Michelle'" with whom he said he had had a consensual sexual relationship.

And more names fall out. Just like we all knew that they would.

                Quote:
                • In their summary of the conversation, police said Bryant told them that he should have paid the woman to keep quiet -- and mentioned another NBA player who he said had done that. Bryant said the player would pay women "not to say anything," and that he had spent up to a million dollars to get out of situations like Bryant's. Bryant told the police that he had never had to resort to paying hush money, stating that he "treats a woman with respect, therefore, they shouldn't say anything."

                Again admits to further adultry.

In the end, I think it proves a whole lot that Kobe Bryant (is at best) a liar and adulterer.

While that is somewhat "understandable", that repeated behavior will ultimately lead to something that is against the grain. A situation that is not interpreted correctly. Its a flawed series of choices that leads to consequences.

You are a famous athlete. MOST of the reason you are able to sleep with these women is BECUASE you are a famous athlete. As such, it stands to reason that the fame, noteriety and money is a big influence in the equation.

Thinking that "respect" (when incidently you show none) is going to protect you from this type of thing or protect the consequences of such decisions is foolish.

To think that your word means squat when you lie to the police, lie to your wife, lie to your publics etc etc.

Well, it doesn't sit well in the end. And I can only hope that a big wake up call happened for Kobe. That he realized that poor decisions ultimately catch up to you. And when they come calling, its best to face them rather than deny them.

Did he rape her? I doubt he thought he did. Im not one that thinks people "rape" once. And there is no evidence that he has had anything but respectful (if you can call it that) affairs in the past.

Yes he would have paid that day to make it go away. Im sure he offered. And Im sure once it hit the press he HAD to put up the brave face. Once the damaging evidence was about to hit the airwaves we had ourselves an "agreement" to no longer continue.

And just like that... Kobe became the rich man who buys his troubles away (just like he said he would) and she became the woman that allows it to happen.

No "guilt", no "innocence". Just more of the same. Denials and back door arraingements.

Like I said, hopefully he has learned something from it.

I'm the exact opposite. Lord knows that I have skeletons in my closet and I would'nt want anyone to judge me based off just those things alone. Its more to me then what I did in the past but for some, they just refuse to look past it.

Kobe may have been a complete idiot for being caught up in this situation but I'm sure he is a changed man after all of this. If you cant forgive a man who made bonehead decisions in life but has learned from them(possibly) then you're no better than he is. And this is not a attack on you squid, I'm just speaking in general.

Re: Kobe admitted to cheating .....

Everyone on here speaks as if they know for a fact what they would/wouuldn't do in Kobe's situation.

The simple fact is, none of us know.

What must it be like to be young, rich, a celebrity, groomed at an early age to be a superstar, etc., etc. Can anyone on this board speak to what kind of mindset that breeds? Is it a big surprise that Kobe did this? If you are that shocked that he committed adultery than you had better shield your eyes and ears if they ever release statistics on the number of people that cheat on their significant others, let alone celebrities. You also have to take into account that Kobe got married at a very young age. What you want when you are 22 does not always end up being what you thought it would at 26.

I've been happily and faithfully married for over seven years, but I would never, in a million years, ever want to be in a situation where I had 1000's of gorgeous women offering themselves at me year in and year out. I'm not saying I would cheat, but to resist that kind of temptation, especially after spending long stretches of time away from home and the stresses a coach, teammate, wife, the national media building up would make it challenging to overcome.

I don't know all the facts of the case. I wasn't in the room. So I can't speak to exactly what happened. I sure as hell can take an educated guess at it though:

Young impressionable woman sees superstar. Superstar flirts with woman. Woman goes to hotel room with superstar. Kissing and petting ensues. Superstar wants a quickie with some stranger that he can treat like yesterday's garbage. Young woman wanted something a little more intimate and romantic (not bent over a chair and told to leave). End of story.

I'm sure there are a lot of pieces to the puzzle that we won't ever see or here about, but if you can read between the lines, I'm sure are there. It wouldn't surprise me to hear that Kobe's wife is very emotionally and mentally controlling over him. He is probably resentful and acts out controlling scenarios with strange women he figures he'll never have to see again. It also wouldn't surprise me to hear that this young woman had sex with another partner sometime before Kobe (possible an ex-boyfriend) and was discarded by him as well and she was feeling resentful and abused herself.

Did he rape her? I'm sure in his mind he used her like some $2 hooker off the street, but rape, never. And I'm sure in her mind she felt used and abused, treated like a dog, and didn't get what she was looking for. Maybe in her mind that constitutes rape.

My point is is that we can all speculate and pass judgement, but none of us really know. I can say that I was arrested when I was 18 and even then I knew not to say anything to the police. So Kobe singing like a canary does sound a little far-fetched.

LOL. Some Kobe fans say all this don't matter. I bet it matters to Vanessa. And some people are idiots. Somebody saying Vanessa probably cheated on Kobe. How in the world do you know. You don't know crap. Vanessa could be straight as an arrow for all you know. I laugh at people shallow and simple. Ya'll said the same about Magic, probably, and look what that got him. H-I-V. No cure. magic may look good now, give him another 10 yrs, come visit him in I-C-U, when he weighs 150 lbs, not 300. See how cool Magic's bball game is then. Serious stuff, what Kobe's doing, he's playing w/fire, and he's gonna get burned real bad if he keeps it up. Last I checked, screwing around a lot don't do a lot for one's health, even with plastic protection. Check Africa, care to get a blood transfusion there? Thought not. We're headed that way if we keep looking the other way, or saying not a big deal to cheat on your wife. Hate to break it to you, but God cares what Kobe does, it's wrong, and that's why God allowed AIDS, to punish people who think they can do whatever they want regardless of whether it hurts other people. You'll probably hate me for stating the truth, but I don't have to swap personal opinions w/you about who's right, cuz last I checked, monogamy is 100 % safe from death and disease from STD's, but Kobe's act ain't. Not even close. Nuff said.

Oh yeah, for anyone who wants to argue that AIDS isn't punishment for immoral activity, care to share what percent of people w/ AIDS caught the disease outside of drug use or sex outside of marriage.
