From The Vertical‘s Adrian Wojnarowski:
As it became clearer that Joerger wanted a more lucrative contract and a fresh start elsewhere, Grizzlies management cut ties with him. Memphis is starting its search immediately, and former Indiana Pacers coach Frank Vogel is expected to get considerable attention in the early stages of the process, sources said.
NBA.com’s David Aldridge also reported Memphis’ interest in Vogel, and his ties to GM Chris Wallace, but cautions that the Knicks are better positioned to land him if they so choose to:
Vogel definitely on Grizz radar, but Memphis knows his NY ties & if Knicks are serious about him, Grizz can’t/won’t get into bidding war.

Vogel also has ties to Grizz GM Chris Wallace; Vogel’s first NBA job was in video room for Rick Pitino in Boston while Wallace was GM there.

Vogel would be a pretty seamless replacement for Joerger, from a basketball standpoint. They’re both defensive-minded workers, and by all accounts, Memphis’ firing of Joerger was for personality reasons, not stylistic ones. But Vogel would also command a high price tag given his success in Indiana, and it could be cheaper for the small-market Grizzlies to go for a rising assistant.
It doesn’t seem that the Grizzlies are close to finding a replacement for Joerger. But there’s a natural fit with Vogel, and it’s something to keep an eye on.
